hi and i am coming over mid september and looking at hotels, we stayed at the Carlton Hotel last time which was fine but thought it would be cool to try somewhere else this time, i did a search and is the Nob Hill Hotel any good? and if anyone would like to meet up for a drink then drop me a PM thanks pete
Pete, it might be easier if you just list the hotels you're thinking of and the locals can say yes or no to the location. The boarders in SF can be a little blurry at times. Tomo is not bad. A few people have stayed there and it is in Japantown...and it's close to Kirkland's favorite bar, Dimples.
yeah, locals don't really stay in hotels. but we can tell you if the intersection/neighborhood is decent or a crack-infested swap fair on the streets. the world of homelessness and bartering for fifth-hand goods and second-hand food, fascinatingly depressing. bring your camera and stay out of the 'loin at night.
thats a fair point really, guess i am just excited for a holiday, we actuallt just booked the Carlton again as got an amazing deal and it was prefect the last time but any good places to eat and drink would be sweet, we have been and will be going back to The Stinking Rose, plus there was a few cool bars around that area, thanks
ugh. i'm sorry. The Stinking Rose is horrible. My favorite restaurant in San Francisco is almost literally across the street: The House. Asian Fusion cuisine.
The House is good but I haven't been there in years. I've never gone to The Stinking Rose and probably never will. There are many other places to eat in North Beach. If you do end up there, go to La Boulange and get some macarons (yes, they're a chain but those macarons are yummy).
The HoPR is awesome. It's more than eating dinner, it's a restaurant experience! From the crazy spinning salad bowl to the huge metal cart of beef to the english pudding. yummmmy.
Sounds very nice, and thanks so far a few places to try out now Got some friends flying over now as well so should be even more fun now
If it were me, I would try to get something close to downtown. Last year, we stayed at the Powell Hotel which is on Powell and Market (overlooking the trolley turnaround). It was totally awesome for location. The Muni and Bart are both right out the door, plus you can cab/streetcar there too. The room was small, but nice. This year we stayed at the Fairmont (honeymoon, so we splurged). It's on the top of Nob Hill. Not as perfect a location for catching transit, but the view was outstanding.
well all sorted and booked, plus got some friends flying out the day we get there so its going to be a fun holiday also got booked to get some new ink a blackheart tattoo, cant bloody wait
