I'm listening to Flying Saucer Attack (FSA) right now. Specifically "Make Me Dream". If you like distortion set to lots of bongo rhythmic patterns (aka T Rex) with shoegazing dreaminess, give it a whirl. The Popol Vu instrumentals they do are pretty amazing. Perfectly relaxing for morning coffee.
I've been listening to the crap out of Giant Squid's The Ichthyologist over the past sixth months. It is easily my 2009 album of the year so far.
I think it's on the Clash on Broadway boxset. It's a great song. just picked up the reissue on sundaze classic!
And since I ruined the entire point of the exercise by listing album and months, my actual SOTD is "The Royal We" by Silversun Pickups. I love these guys, they remind me of the Smashing Pumpkins minus Billy Corgan's douchebaggery.
Jesu - Infinity (kind of a stretch for a "song", since it's a one-track, 49+ minute long album. Great new stuff from Justin Broadrick.
