All I have been able to dig up is a link to the production Bangal vinyl in GR's webstore that says "temporarily out of stock."

there was a sign up list at the show for people interested in artwork/custom figs - imagine GR is contacting those people first and then will put things up for sale on their website. eric said the following on uglyblog:

JANM is a non profit and cannot sell these figures. A price list can't happen. It's unethical and so forth. I communicated on my blog that we'll sell the figures later on via online. It was also on our email blast as well. But if you signed up at our GR table we'll try the best we can to accommodate you.

Yeah, I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but for all of the hype for this segment of the show, the coordination of the sales seems a little disjointed. I don't know who/what the miscommunication was, but it appears even the artists themselves (speaking of Le Merde, Dave, and Dehara) were unsure of the sales.

And, for this I am speaking about the exclusive figures, NOT the show customs.

So they CAN'T sell the figs/art there because it is "unethical," but while there you can put your name on a list that entitles you to buy stuff later on? This is like consumerism once removed. Is that "ethical?"

I love GR, LM, Dehara and David, but this seems like a huge clusterfuck for those who want to engage in said consumerism.

I also don't understand how they are non-profit, if they have a gift shop. Oh, and some the items were sold in said shop. Huh?

Perhaps the gift shop is non-profit, as well.

    Thanks for posting this info!

Am I the only one who thinks Eric is condescending? I mean...

    ***straw man alert***

Umm...the Picassos aren't located in the gift shop, nor are they for sale after the exhibit is over, are they? Excuse us for thinking items that are on sale are, like, on sale and shit.

How were we supposed to know there was a sign up list or that if there was a place to put your name down what it was for?

As long as we are getting into it this is a bit contradictory...

I am going to keep my commentary to a minimum, but I do think the blog post is/was demeaning...to whomever it was addressed.

Funny, because I, for one, am somewhat familiar with the art scene, and I have family who've worked for museums. To say there is a "strong segment...clueless..."? Really? I mean, this is the Giant Robot fan-base being addressed!!! This is a good example of how the independent thoughts and feelings of an individual can be indirectly imputed to a business (for which they are employed). (Remember the NY Times writer who got canned by the Paper for personal comments he made offline?)

I don't know. I feel it could have been addressed with a more tactful diplomacy.

Agreed. (Granted..I like dehara but wasn't interested in anything at the show) However, if people had known this prior to the show then it would have been a lot easier to digest. The guy sounded completely condescending towards the fan base.

Wow. Response from Eric (?) posted in the comments section. Starts off with an semi-apology and ends with this:

Thank you for telling us what is and is not art. Maybe you should speak slower, since we're too dumb to use a museum.

Hahahaha! What a great line. I thought the same thing. When you were young, did your folks ever say something like, "Stop talking, you've already done enough..."? Mine did, and it was usually after I said/did something really stupid and JUST as everyone almost forgot about it--BANG!--I would say/do something to remind everyone, in a feeble attempt to take subsequent remedial measures! LOL!

Love ya Mike, David, Yukinori, but I decided to pass after all of the "y'all are just uncultured toy collector" blasts from GR.

    Cool stuff, though.

I was surprised how many sets of the collab figures there were. I really didn't get that sense from the pix I saw from the show. This one's my favorite. I love the Horvath head with Le Merde eyes and the blood spat on the Dehara head.

    To my understanding..,

There will only-ever-be 21 LeDavHara Figures
The mold was purposely broken - never to be reproduced again.

    7 per artist.

I couldn't get into the resin stuff.
I really can't get into the recent Le Merde stuff.
I even thought that alot of the Dehara was hit or miss.

Did end up going for two vinyl Ishida Ho-Nyu mashups.
