KAWS killed them, now the DECAPITATOR takes their heads off : http://www.flickr.com/photos/the_decapitator/ http://aarting.blogspot.com/2009/11/decapitator.html
yea, i saw a story on him earlier this year, i think his work is pretty nice. will be interesting to see how his career plays out.
I agree. I think I may have read the same story, it was right after he did a bunch of the lou reed supreme posters/the kermit ones that eradicator thing is insane.
kids in the hall FTW. i love bruce mcculloch. can i paint that chair? how much does a job like that pay? the decapitator. hope that pony knows some more tricks...
WHY? If he plays his cards right he can profit greatly from the one trick. I mean Kaws makes TONS of money just slapping X's on stuff.
well i guess if your goal as an artist is to make lots of money, then lacking versatility is fine. some artists are really good painters but can only work on canvas, some artists are low on talent and seem to only be skilled at making lots of money by marketing themselves to the vacuous and cannibalistic art scene which prides itself on being lowbrow and high culture. to each his own, i guess.
just observing... being simplistic and iconic as a grafitti or street artist doesn't mean he or she is lacking in creativity. given that though, i think he is deliberately being simple, with an iconic idea and he is hoping to strike it lucky. there is no social comment in his work... on the other hand, an artist with flair and a million ideas and/or styles should produce their work in a gallery rather than on the street... i do believe this dude is trying to get fame $ glory though. that's fine if he can get there. the real question should be targeted at the people who put him on a pedestal... without support he is just a headless chicken.
If he is doing it just to be doing it, I think it is pretty awesome. I like seeing altered advertisements out randomly for some reason.
