my first thought was the body was removable from the mini-saucer and you could put him in the larger saucers from last year. he would be a better fit in there.

At least we still get this one! (Which IMO is better than an unpainted gid.)
Anyone know the exact reason for canceling it? The translation doesn't make much sense to me:

"I was planning to release this week on Saturday Gosutorupa unpainted, so many customers, "painted version" Considering that you get a request, "painted version of" changing the products will be sold then you have to. The very small number, the customer regarding the purchase of similar items are selling first, bon appétit, so we will be eligible for purchase, please note."

I also don't understand the Ghost Trooper missing a weapon.
His right hand looks as if it should be gripping a gun.

The glow trooper unpaint was being shown off, but was never meant for sale. A certain resale dealer then put them up for sale on his email list with the picture. Toygraph wants to clarify that the glow unpainted will not be for sale, only painted versions will be.

All further ghostroopers will have weapons.

if u refer to the number of versions, then definitely not a 1000 yet.
if u refer to total number of troopers released, then there are far more than 1000.

i think its timely that toygraph consider retiring these over-worked sculpts and move on to something fresh. there are certainly way too many versions for any collector to follow-up by now.

Well, I'd love it if they started doing different poses, arm attachments, weapon variations, etc. In fact, I woulda been fine with them keeping to the original head sculpt for the entire line. Or rather, keep the same "race" of spacemen...and varied the expressions on the dudes. But just keep developing different variations on the figure, itself. All these new head sculpts aren't that exciting to me.

I don't have any cause my head will simply explode if I tried to collect them so my admiration is from afar. From what I've seen I really dig the ghost head the most. I don't think they need to retire these. They seem to have a category of their own, like fight figures. I see these more like a more sophisticated versions of army men. You can't have enough. I'd like to see more vehicles and brutes (heavy weapons type troops) just to add variety that will compliment what they've already released. ...ok I better shut up now before I end up talking myself into getting some.

I agree. I don't understand the obsession with having to have every one. One can't possibly collect them all, thus they should retire the line? Fuck that. I LIKE that they produce so many so I can pick and choose which ones I buy.

I've come to enjoy the Space Trooper designs myself, but typically find the paint quite boring. That said, the incredible quantity of varied releases is awesome because they make great custom fodder :) I don't see why anyone would need to own every single Trooper anyway... or why there being lots of them is a bad thing. People are buying them, so there's a market, and more releases means more people can get them. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

Edit: In full disclosure, I have sworn to completion on Neo Eyezons, so I guess I DO get the completion thing. For now.

From what I gather, there are a lot of completists here. To them, I offer my condolences. For me, like Ben and Hillsy, I've never been one, so the dozen or so that I have kick much ass and I absolutely love them.

Robert, I think you mostly nailed it: I see them as a blend between army men and space guys like Billy Blast-Off or the Outer Space Men.

Exactly, for me I'd set the limits to the painted versions, pick out some odd species as the bad guys and just go from there. I think the number of releases are perfect for the collectors who wants to theme up their trooper addiction and bring it under control, not feel so overwhelmed.

Having said that, I do empathize with the completist being guilty in regards to my heroin like addiction to Rangeas but only because the rate of release is still very manageable. I was this way with the Boogie Man, then I felt like Lucy in the chocolate factory when they amped up their releases. Now I just buy what I like when the opportunity presents itself and I have cash.

Yeah, even if Ghost Trooper looks like a grown up (and dead) Betarus,
it is, with the Nagata one, those that stand out.
    The clear orange simply killed.
