also-did anyone put up the cash for the Joy Division Box set? I want to see pics! I saw the Beastie Boys 12' but didn't pick one up. DOH! sorry guys.
Coops has a record player that's lasted 30+ years. i got one that didn't last 6 months... 'audio technica' something is wrong with the auto start. At the end of a record it pics up the needle to return then starts over and immediately pics it back up and goes back to return . Over and over until I unplug it. It is such a simple device, does anyone know how to fix this? thanks sorry to threadjack.
I'm scared of what happens when my ancient turntable finally gives up the ghost - didn't I hear that Technics finally stopped making turntables?
True-In Feb. We bought one in March in a panic. We got it at B&H Photo/video Maybe get one & put it in the closet for a rainy day. They are also pretty repairable though, so even if something goes, you should be ok.
I am not sure what the differences are, but Rhino has a limited edition Joy Division box set online. Pricey as hell. Think you would do better to find the orig Factory releases. Regarding turntables, I have a Denon that's about 20 years old. Still alive & well.
Damn that is a pretty record. I can check with my local shop to see if they got any if you'd like. They have owed me bigtime for a long while.
this might work (it certainly works on a 15+year old cheapie sony deck i still use)....it runs into this problem sometimes,,the auto tone-arm gets stuck in one motion... when it stops playing & returns back to base,,just as it is about to place itself back down onto the tone-arm holder,,hold the tone arm up so that it doesn't place itself down,,but the auto mechanism is tricked into thinking it is back in place... you should hear or feel a click as the auto mechanism is being tricked.. this should set it back to where it needs to be...good luck!!! as for what type of turntable you use,,it really doesn't matter unless you are a DJ interested in pitch control or direct-drive...what matters is the stylus! i love technics as much as the next person (i own a pair too) but i end up using my cheapie sony deck or portable hello-kitty deck just as much (if not more than the technics)
It did, the store I work at had them. I'm working tonight I'll keep an eye open for anything, whether it be left over or employee holding it in the back (because if I wanted, I could totally snag any of it since I've been there longer muwahahahha!)
Poked my head in my local shop & nothing much left (No Ramones - sorry Missy). They did have the Joy Division set for $250
My shop was sold out of anything anyone seems to be after. Nothing in the backroom either. Sorry dudes.
I picked up that clear SOIA 7" and the Pantera - Far Beyond Driven 2xLP. Those were the only RSD records that I picked up. Though our local store, Armageddon Shop, had a ton of awesome stuff out that they had been saving for RSD. I ended up picking up: Converge - When Forever Comes Crashing LP Bad Brains - Black Dots LP His Hero is Gone / Union of Uranus LP Youth of Today - Break Down the Walls on Wishing Well, which was still sealed. I finally picked up one of my holy grails at A) a good price and B) still sealed...
Ear x tacy opened 5 minutes early (9:55) and 90% of the vinyl was sold out @ 10:10. They sold a 1000 or so records on Saturday!
My store in NOLA got no copies of the colored Ramones Mania or any copies of the Fucked Up 7-inch... Do the Flaming Lips do every Pink Flyod song on Dark Side of the Moon?
i grabbed the SOIA 7" also picked up the new high on fire lp & flex your head comp reissue with the red cover.
Start to finish. It's been available for download for awhile and the 'standard release' cd is coming out in May.
I went back to the record store today and raided leftovers.
