First, again, thank you to everyone who helped get my registration activated. I've been watching/reading for over a year, but just today did my registration get approved. In addition to writing about toys -- http://www.battlegrip.com -- I've also been slowly building skills at customizing and constructing resin toys. Here are pics of my latest creation (in association with my wife, Gina, who made the molds and did all of the cleanup work on the cast pieces). There are a total of twelve of these resin monsters created. I'm taking with me on vacation this weekend and plan to snap photos of these guys in the desert.
So cute with their widdle feet! Great to see you here, Phil. Not to derail this thread, but I caught Doughty's "Metalhead" post on his blog. Were you guys planning on going into production with metal-cast heads? Or was that just a little one-time gig?
That was an experiment. Matt has 40 or so metal heads and we've discussed creating more, but no firm plans yet. If the metal heads get released that will most likely be a Custom Corps project. But no decisions yet.
Ah, I'd better make this clear very fast. It's a blend of action figure/toy parts and Sculpey. There are some sculpted parts, but a lot of what you see is kitbash work.
The fingertips and toes weren't coming out so Gina built up every single one on the dozen resin figures. And yes, I realize how lucky I am to have a wife who enjoys this sort of thing.
Thanks, guys! I really appreciate the encouragement/kind words I've been getting. I think this is the first design that's really just come together perfectly for me.
They all look great Phil. Very happy for you . I see that your volcano monster is coming along well too. Keep up the good work sir
Thank you. I was hoping to finish the volcano monster today, but it looks like he won't be whole until the weekend.
Phil your resin monsters are killer! The colorways really bring out their detail and I love the variations in the designs. Keep on keepin' on brutha! TGB
