came across a guy on ebay selling fake chums, made him a deal and was going to do it... but then decided not to... a few days later another guy comes on with fake chums... when looking at them they looked so much better! the first dudes set u could tell they were 2 halfs that look like they snapped together and looked like they were hard plastic... you can see what i mean here: then i decided to go with the other guy who's looked better in the pics, and this is what i received. pretty bad ass if you ask me. they are rotocast in what feels like kaiju vinyl, and is 4 pieces, each arm actually moves, as well as the head. honestly a pretty nice quality bootleg. and way better then set 1 that i almost jumped on for more $... the nice part about this from the ones i remember from a few years back also was those from the past had bow ties on the boots... these have the kaws x's like the real chums... honestly happy with my purchase, and i know that the folks that went in on the set with me will be to... im kinda sad i gave up the white... o ya that 5yl is bootleg to, and really good quality to! head, arms, hands, and boots are articulated just like the OG 5yl...
well one reason was its not a complete rip... no companion or chum ever came in 8" form, so they have their own sense of uniqueness to them. also I simply love the controversy that it brings forth because... they are a rip off, or well... a rip off.
is it BS because it's ripping off Kaws? Or is it BS because it's a bootleg? there are a lot of bootleg toys out there. this is nothing new.
That first set of bootlegs on ebay actually is more intriguing to me. They actually look better constructed and they went out of their way to actually stamp the feet. Love it when bootleggers go the extra mile...lol. Hard plastic rather than vinyl is closer to the real thing as well.
henry you would of loved the ones on ebay then!... they even had a bag and everything lmfao and a medicom tag lmfao!
Both? I hate seeing this stuff get purchased, it supports MORE shady activity. Just because there is alot doesn't make it O.K. That just my opinion. I'm sure Kaws is flattered by it. I understand all of Kaws' ideas are recycled, but at least he is good at it.
The dude makes $20,000 casts of his head. He is probably chuckling at these bootleggers as he sits in a chair made out of $100 bills.
not sure exactly what this means but for some reason i just laughed out loud. like ghetto cheap shoes we used to call bobos? these rock, i hope they are cheap? the 5yL one is cool.
Last week I referred to someone's kix as "bobos;" then I had to painfully & clearly explain the process of how to properly identify them out in the wild.... what the hell are they even teaching kids these days?!?
they were about 88$ a piece on my first order... the guy i got them from gets them second hand, and the store he gets them from charge a decent amount he said because they know what they have, even though they are bootlegs hehe. I am probbaly going to do another order with him, and he knocked off almost $20 per fig this time around... so still exspensive at $75 but i think they are worth it... 8" figure for $75 is pretty decent in my book. probably going to get 2 5yl and a white chum for me... if anyone else wants something let me know i guess before i order.
Normally I would disagree with anything Eckotyper says but I think shitty bootlegs are awesome and I own more than my fair share of real kaws.
What's crazy to me is spending essentially the same money on a bootleg as you would on the real thing. Bootlegs should be CHEAP.
