Yup, another chapter of my toy collecting story. Honestly, KT was among the first few online shop for me. Appreciate them making it easier to collect. All the best to them.
I'll miss looking at the pictures of all the cool stuff I couldn't afford but might pick up someday. I had a hard time trying to find anything left at 70% off. It's like the land of "Sold Out" on there.
Haha, isn't it?! I thougth I'd pick up some B-Clubs for cheap but all gone. I think Paypal is what did them in, and ironically, its what made them successful when they got started. I mean with Paypal a lot of the shops have opened up to international buyers direct. I guess its a worrying trend for online shops. But I don't think Kaiju Taro is really done.....
sucks to see kaiju-taro go =[ had nothing but good experiences dealing with them even when they changed owners
I've picked up some gems from them for sure and will be sad not to have the site as a reference any longer. Best wishes to KT!
A sad day. I still remember the day KT first opened. It was like a gold mine. I was away on vacation and kept sneaking away to the hotel lobby to plug in my lap top and do some more shopping. I picked up a ton of the Charactics stuff in my collection from them that day along with a pile of other loot too. Good luck KT!
I owe getting my butanohana cavemen to them along with 4 charactics matango. I loved back in the day when you could make a want list and if it "rearribed" you lucked out! I use to get up at 5:30am EST just to check the new items out hoping to score. So sad to see them go, one of the few places you could buy direct in Japan.
Kaiju Taro got me started in the Barom-1 collection. They widened my tastes for Kaiju. Browsing and buying from their site has always been exciting. Their service was always of top quality. Before their renewal this was the site I opened first thing every morning and they often had a gem waiting... Unfortunately since they merged with the strange Odoru & Gomu-Taro, Kaiju-taro slowly slowed down until the sad news this week. Ironically, here is my first (left) and last (right) purchase from them : Togegeruge is almost crying on that pic ! Thank you, Kaiju Taro.
I like that my confirmation e-mail truncated KT's motto: "The Japanese Monster is Eterna" Poetic. Like something left unfinished. Found one last little thingie to pick up. Even with EMS it came out to much less than retail. KT will be missed.
I found a few more things as well, then realized one of them I had already picked up the other week at 50% off. Doh. oh well I'll pass the savings onto the BST when it rearribes.
Sorry . . . I finally got around to registering on KT a couple of months back . . . probably my Reverse Midas Touch* jinxed it! *Everything I touch turns to shit!
saw the 70% off email and hopped on to pick up a few CCP items and some odds and ends. I was one of the first people to sign up with them many years ago and they've been a constant joy in my collecting life. Very sad to see them close up and I am so hoping that we'll see another version of KT soon!
suck - my box has been stuck in Osaka for 5 days now! I'm going to have to contact them to see what the hold up is.
Anyone have issues of not getting the items they ordered? Between the 2 sales, I am missing 5 items that I paid for. 3 of which were still expensive. I have tried the 2 emails, shop@ and info@, but I don't think anyone I used to know still worked there. Anyone have any additional emails for them? (or receive any unexpected R.M. or Rainbow items?)
My issue? How about my box being sent on May 14th and it's been sitting in Osaka since May 15th. I've sent 2-3 emails a week since then with no response! I'm pissed and if I don't hear from 'em by Friday I'm getting my money back via PayPal. Sucks too 'cause there were some pieces in the box I really wanted.
I just paid for the Galtan Pendants on the 4th and theyre here in NYC already. Sorry you both have had issues with them. I dont think they very good at the communications in general tho. I sent 3 emails that were never replied to.
