Anyone remember Komar and Melamid from the '80s? They took an international survey to find what people thought was most beautiful in paintings, and then produced paintings according to the winning features. (E.G. romantic landscapes, frequent use of the color blue, etc.) They later did the opposite, polling people for "least wanted aspects in a painting" and then did paintings titled "Least Wanted" accordingly. Sounds like DEVO has done the same thing in preparing "Something for Everyone." Nifty little concept and joke (it's the reason why the energy domes are now blue and why some of the promo art features sexy ladies. People like sexiness and the color blue.)
I can't stop listening to the new album! I think they are sounding great and couldn't be more pumped about it!
I hereby declare myself a dummy and a cad, I have been watching Devo's You Tube channel and they are still geniuses... http://www.youtube.com/user/DEVOvision The reality show is awesome. The music is ok, but all in all I think they totally win on this one. Go Devo!
One of the artist we had in our group show Piper Ferguson just shot some photos of DEVO. http://www.flickr.com/photos/piperferguson/4661710018/
Seeing them on July 31 st ...cant wait! The new album is great ....the single Fresh is stands up with the rest of there catalog!
I like Fresh a lot. Downloaded the song and the video, probably getting the CD. It's like they rewound the clock back to Oh No It's Devo. Mark Mothersbaugh was going to do the soundtrack for the movie Whip It, but there were some missed connections between him and Drew Barrymore. Shame.
I may have to give this record another chance...I did like the Oh No It's Devo album, and saw the tour as a young lad.
Saw them this weekend and they put on a great show! Best line... Thank you Lexington! FYI...they were playing in Louisville!
You can use your mouse cursor to play music video cinematographer while buying merchandise! That was fun.
