Havent posted in awhile, infact barely lurking the forums in hopes of not spending any money , but thought Id share. Feejee mermaid based on the original taxidermied feejee mermaids. Done in numerous colorations but so far this is my fav. Hope you enjoy!
it's fantastic how you've translated the kaiju spray style to ceramic! great colors and textures, too.
Was hoping someone would get around to those flesh 'n blood mash-ups. This is beautifully done w/out all the dead monkey and fish smell!
yup did it myself. I love doing these kinds of colorations but they arent as well received in the mug scene. Do 'em for myself and if they sell then.... great! No monkey flesh or fish smells but what I wouldnt do for the real thing.
Really want to tackle Jake the alligator man next but its a little too close to home(pdx-long beach) and possible copyright infringments since its a Marsh's museum staple.
Wow, that's very nice. I just saw one of your ceramic Matangos in another thread - impressed by that as well. I could use a Hedorah or Matango Sangria Pitcher. Good work. Bookmarked.
yeah totally rocks. the tiki element is blended nicely. i love the fiji mermaid taxidermy stuff. at the toxic catalyst show, there was one guy there to check out the toys, but he left with one of your mugs (can't recall which). he mentioned something about the cross-over appeal of DIY plastic and DIY ceramics. you should get in on that. he called you a "legend", so that should float your boat for at least the weekend.
great concept, execution and history! Really like the shot of the one at the top o' the thread, very nice!
