Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 just saw it myself rich, this is crossing the line to crazy model kit realism. Totally great stuff. The omake with him is dope too. Cant wait to see it painted.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 I was thinking that myself but I like it on this. The little guy is also for club members only. The image though was a test shot and the actual releaseay be toned down.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 Here's another pic Amy posted on facebook. Pretty friggen awesome! Is the little odd unpainted guy the omake you speak of?
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 this will be my first SK piece. nailed it! any shots of the back?
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 Just emailed Amy and they can get the set, just email her if your interested. Super stoked on this toy, I can totally see so much being done with it.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 The muted colors and the stance remind me of McFarlane's Where the wild things are which were pretty cool toys.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 I was gonna say thats one toy that would freak my kids out.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 That Death Kappa is amazing. Probably my favorite Shikaruna figure ever.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 looks too real. Like a sculpture. Doesn't look like other Shikaruna stuff at all does it? I like it. But I like Kappa's!
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 I think it's just the paint that is making it look so life like. The flat life like tones and all. A glossy vinyl with glossy spray with a more masked eye will change that feel.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 I was just gonna say... Looks like it was lifted directly from the movie. Is there any indication on the webs if this is an actual licensed toy from the movie? I mean, I don't give a fuck if Shik just boosted the style to sell a toy, but I think it would be totally groovy if this were an actual licensed tie-in.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 Not many new sculpts that come along and blow me away. This is another. Wow! Rich you know what I mean with Ollie. A few others make my A++++++++++ list.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 Yeah it does look like its a licensed toy as it mentions the movie and director by name in the description. This guy does look pretty rad (the movie was kind of mediocre). I like the hunchback station agent dude he comes with. It says he will be pre-painted in the final release.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 Yes, it is Death Kappa and it is a officially license item. Says copyrighted to Tomo Haraguchi producer and director of the film. Looks like Shikaruna Koubou is breaking into doing some licensed products from films and anime. They have already done a few Tetsujin items since end of 2009.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 DAMNATION. I haven't seen it yet, but I was really hoping it'd be dope. Just the fact that Haraguchi was so adamant about man-in-rubber-suit (including his own history with suitmation tokusatsu)... Argh! Eh well...I'll still see it. chimply, wasn't Poseidon from Babel one of Shikaruna's very first toys? Anyway, yeah, I think it's always neat seeing these small toy makers score cool licenses!
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 I just hops this doesn't mean this is a one shot deal. Would totally suck to not seer this in multiple colorways.
Re: Shikaruna Koubo Database- updated 2/24/10 Interestingly, the style and approach that the Shik used is the "realist" one. More of a cross between a toy and a realistic image of the character in form of a sculpture. I am curious as to how this approach resonates with most of the SB collectors...
