For me, it basically boils down to
    Satanic Warmaster
    Carpathian Forest
    Hellhammer
    Watain
    Sodom's first album or two
    and
    Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger.

But as far as metal goes, Grindcore, Thrash and Melodic Death Metal are my faves. 8)

Any chance this thread could get some visuals and sleeves thrown up along with the band details too.

I have zero interest in the music but love the imagery and iconography (and I'm a lazy clueless f*ck!)

Never heard em. I knew I would catch shit for puttin up a photo of varg and benton. I didn't think I had to put the most obscure BM references. Just trying to give Andy some pics. And just cause Deicide is really popular, doesn't mean they arent really good. At least I think they are..

ahh it's cool man I'm just messing around. :) Deicide were pretty cool. I liked that album with the stone face symbol thing with red eyes on the cover, I don't know the name of it. I always thought that thing looked like an evil version on those faces that shot arrows out of their eyes at Indiana Jones at the begining of Raiders of the Lost Ark. :)

^ No. Boring cliché from Entombed and Waitain dudes,
and never as entertaining as Helvetets Port.

Yeah, it was briefly discussed in another thread, but I can't find it. I really like the album art, but wasn't into the music.

Edit: Ha ha - I couldn't find it because it's not in a different thread, it's on the previous page of this one!

You guys must be more familiar with this genre than me. I bought the Ghost. & I like it alot. Granted it's been 24 hours but I have listened 5-6 times.

    Ritual
    Elizabeth
Stand by Him (Night of the Witch)
    ..Satan Prayer

What do you mean cliche like Watain? You mean other music sounds like this? With hooks, chorus, melody?

I really dig Ghost but I'm embarrassed to say so. Though catchy as hell, it's pretty cheesy.

I felt the same way about Mercyful Fate when I was 15 but that passed. Not putting them on the same level, just saying. Ghost is very "Spinal Tap" at times, as I've said. But I can't stop listening. I'm not bored with it but I can see how someone might be or think they're cliche.

Ghost are as close to a 'boy band' as you can get. The whole thing is a marketing ploy to manufacture some record sales, all the way down to how the members are a secret. I doubt they'll even be releasing anything in two years time. Metals answer to the Darkness?

Rather listen to Mercyful Fate or Witchfinder General or a ton of other better bands.

Ghost is a side projet of a Watain member is all I was saying, but yeah, Watain fall on my nerves. I dislike melodic black and death metal. So no, Kvelertak is not my new favorite band either.

Don't be embarrassed, I had Rihanna's Only girl in my head all week

I have no information on them other then someone saying "listen" and then I did. So what's the "boy band" deal? Please inform. I didn't know the members were secrets, I just never cared to look into it more.

Sidenote: I have nothing against manufactured groups to sell records, after a while most bands become that. They drop a member to get a better sound, or for image, or for some fake reason when the reason is money and power within the band.

Yeah, I couldn't give a toss if a band is chucked together with the sole purpose of selling records as long as what they're putting out is pretty decent. Ghost are basically a 'supergroup' of a couple of Swedish bands, they made a downloadable demo and then Fenriz hailed them as the next big thing. Unfortunately hes missed the mark with these guys (check out his podcast for some genuinely good stuff) as they sound mostly powerless, wearyingly derivative and suspiciously insincere-sounding retro glam-pop with wacky sub-Death SS horror gimmickry. And their gigs last 20-minute gigs in which they spend hours applying shed loads of make-up for.

In the meantime decent material gets looked over such as Reverend Bizarre, and its only when they disappear do people start listening to them :|
