SLOOWWW DOOWWWNNN DUUUUDEEEE. I will be at the oakland one scooping gelato. I know some buds who will be at the LA show. dust off that finger you use for pointing and do some warm up dives at the office.
I would kill to go to that! Man I want to see Youth or GB so bad. i cant help it they're straight edge royalty!!!
BOOM! What did you think of Trapped Under Ice? Did you get to see them? A great bunch of guys and hard working. Although I can see people not being into them.
We dug Trapped Under Ice when we saw them last August - but before then I'd never heard there stuff. I don't think a ton of this board would share your sentiment.
I'm so old that I just realized that TUI didnt even play BNB. I just assumed since they were all there that they played. So I just found out that Mike Judge was supposed to sing NY crew with GB and last minute didnt. I really would like to hand it to him that he has stuck to his guns with never doing that. As excited as I would be to see that, I really respect him for leaving it in the past. I'm not one of those "man fuck reunions" blah blah people because I've seen some great ones along with all the bad ones. With that said, here is a small documentary that my friend Joseph did with Porcell that never got polished off and finished http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGgRLyAoxoo Where it went: Judge Documentary and here another one he was doing with Cappo that never got finished for completely different reasons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlhyduMOsdYs Talk About Unity: NYHC Documentary
Man, that was my era. I have so many of those records shown in that clip. Underdog, Warzone, etc... The pic of Duane at the end took me right back.
Agree above. I felt this comment was pretty bonehead. and all of this talk of old hardcore makes me sad for missing it. Would love to see YOT of GB
Slow down duuuude... someone has the live in Italy split 12 eh ? And Randy, YOT was at Chaos in Tejas... if you don't go shame on you
It was meant as sarcasm.... but it was boneheaded for sure... You can't tell me you haven't had any friends that played the straight edge card, when it was at it's height of popularity, and then decided to party hardy as soon as they could get into a bar... Regardless YOT music will shine through no matter what kind of lifestyle you choose (although I only owned 2 LP's) I bought their 2'nd album and than I bought We're not in this alone... I don't know if I just got a shit copy, but it sounded horrible, so I didn't hunt down anything else they put out... On a side note I'm stoked I just found out Coke bust, and Sick Fix are coming to town...
I have been edge for awhile now over the age of 21. I lost a lot of friends to the drink after that marker which of course is no big deal. i dont have any quarrel with that decision. But i did lose my friend Spit to alcohol poisoning when i was 19 and it still messes with me. Nevertheless I love my edge and my friends be they Edge or not. I Would also still kill to see YOT or GB or Underdog if the chance came up. Also let it be known I would sell my soul to see Project X.
A majority of the straight edge dudes I knew in the mid to late 80s became dead heads right around the time they turned 21. I don't know which is worse, dead head or straight edge. I had another friend who still is totally into the bands / music but LOVES to get high for the shows. He says it makes the music sound better.
missed them. got there for antidote on up. the night belongs to gb and soia hands down. the first time i was up front for a show since i was in my twenties (now in my late thirties).
ill show you how old i am...i was there when they filmed the No More video at The Anthrax in CT would go see them again given the chance but they will NEVER play NM!!!
I'm seeing them in DC on Friday. Stoked. I didn't go when they played in PA back in 2003, even though it was like 10 minutes from where I lived at the time. I thought the reunion was lame, now I don't care.
crap, supposed to see them tonight but the online ticket sales are sold out - fingers crossed for being able to score at the door. If not, I'm still seeing Guitar Wolf later.
So I just saw them in DC. I went in with low expectations (pun intended), and they totally blew me away. Played really really tight, lots of energy. Played everything I wanted to hear except Slow Down. Ended the set with Minor Threat and 7 Seconds covers. t-shirts were $20 though...
I would only complain about that if they were on dischord since Ian is so big on his keeping things cheap.
