The Codex Seraphinianus is a book written and illustrated by Italian artist, architect and industrial designer Luigi Serafini during thirty months, from 1976 to 1978. The book is approximately 360 pages long (depending on edition), and appears to be a visual encyclopedia of an unknown world, written in one of its languages, a thus-far undeciphered alphabetic writing. more pix here: http://www.google.com/search?q=codex%20 ... 78&bih=595
My girlfriend informed me about this book a couple of years ago. It's a masterpiece of human achievement. Tragically difficult to obtain.
Very bizarre book! I downloaded a copy of it a few years back - looks like it's still around if you search for the title and 'pdf'...
