Well if you folks caught tonight's episode you saw that my company's game RAGE was featured in the opening teaser! We had to make some alterations to the game footage because the script called for Jesse to be playing a light gun shooter. There are also some things snuck into the game footage that call back to previous events in the Breaking Bad story. Wonder if anyone will catch them? There's also no Continue/Quit screen in RAGE so that was made specifically for the show.

Personally, I love how it turned out. In the hands of the the brilliant Breaking Bad writers, the sequence signified a turning point in Jesse's character arc this season. Big props to Aaron Paul for his fake videogame acting!

I'm so proud that it's attached to such a great episode too. I think we're at the top of the roller coaster tracks folks...

I just watched it again and caught "GALE" written in white on the wall but with the letters backwards. There's also more white graffiti on the wall after the game camera turns but I can't decipher it. I think the male voice near the beginning is saying quotes from earlier in the series but I can't remember where from...trying to find others might make me go crazy haha

SPOILER ALERT, DON'T READ IF YOU DID NOT WATCH: Wow it's only going to explode from this episode (I hope). So many questions! Where does Jesse's loyalty lie? With Walt or Gus? Both him and Walt are slowly unraveling in their own way, almost wanting to be caught to be put out of their misery. What exactly was the deal with the cartel? What do they want, and why did Gus want to pay that much for them to stop interfering? Do they still want Walt? Hank is the super detective, maybe Jesse won't need to take out Gus, because Hank is coming after him.

Is Gus' control slipping or is he really as suave as he behaves? He thought he was being insidiously clever by kissing up to Hank and Walt Jr. but he's playing with fire. Imagine Walt Jr. taking him up on the offer to work at Los Pollos Hermanos, yowsa! That'd put Walt Sr. in his place but would probably also cause him to really fly the coop. Looks like Gus and Hank are about to engage in a little barnyard do-si-do game of "chicken." When will Hank crack the egg that fries Walt? (OK, I'll stop before someone henpecks me. Bawk bawk bawk.)

I loved the scene with the cartel dude. Gus maintaining his veneer of authority while being trumped by Señor Narco, and Jesse too conflicted and nervous to poison or shoot Gus. Great tension. (I couldn't quite make it out but there was some vocal reference to "poison" during the video game introduction.)

    Rage: Mission Failed. Restart.

I used to really hate Hank...but now that he's back, in a way, to his normal self I appreciate the character a lot more.

He's a really smart dude who's a dick, but still really good at what he does. I think this sums up a lot of characters on this show...

I love the way things are going but am going crazy wondering who dies and when...

Same back at ya wing_clipper, I just talk too much. :) Usually when I revisit this thread, other people have already said what I was gonna say, so I just come up with some chicken scratch (OOPS!)

I'm just glad to know there are other people who give this show the consideration it deserves. When the series finishes, I'm definitely going to watch from the beginning again. Never felt that way about a series before, not even my faves like Sopranos, Battlestar, The Wire or The Shield.

hank was busy during his week off. that's one hell of a case. it's hard to believe that gus would just leave his fingerprints laying around but he did visit the apartment in late season three. lots of respect for current hank, trudging on with his cane. how he doesn't see the last piece (walter, flush with cash) is beyond me.

i haven't finished the shield or battlestar, but this is definitely more of a one way street type arc than say the wire/sopranos. even with tony there wasn't the same kind of progression. i'm looking forward to it too.

did anyone post the news about the fifth (and final) season renewal of 16 episodes? kind of wonder where they're going to air that time.

What I read is that they're going to film 16 episodes concurrently, but split them into TWO seasons of eight a piece, kind of like FOX just did with Rescue Me. Annoying.
Glad to hear the series will continue, but they had best use that bonus year to tweak the final 8 to perfection or I'm going to be pissed!

Watching this scene a second time I thought this would have been better if Walt broke that dollar out right in front of him and bought a soda with it.

I super heated they're doing this! So it will be like one season + 3 episodes but hashing it out over two 8 episode seasons. An absolutely ridiculous money grab. I mean I was heated Walking Dead 1st season had a 6 episode season (should have been at least eight) now this. I never have, an never will watch Mad Men, pretty much the root cause of all this BS. Besides I can't stand that actor Jon Hamm.

The 2 part season thing is total BS. I still think the last season of the sopranos (and the fourth season of oz) would have been so much better if they got down to business in the normal amount of eps. I just hope it's over before 2013. Of course it's all Mad Men's fault.. damn decent show but pretty tame next to its companions and not something I'll stick with through the planned seven seasons.

Is jesse going to poison walt instead? He's passed up a couple attempts to kill the bosses, even though He probably has his reasons for not wanting to murder more people. Way to be the most compelling character on the show right now.

    Spoilers...

So is Gus intentionally keeping Hector alive to let him suffer with the knowledge of his sons' deaths and the cartel's downfall, all as revenge for his partner's death years ago? Was the whole "not today" thing Gus saying "I'm not letting you die just yet?" I'm a little confused...did Gus always know where Hector was when Tuco took care of him or did Gus "acquire" him after Tuco's death and is now keeping him hostage?

    Great questions ?

I gotta think about it some. I just like that we got to see some history on Gus and why he doesn't get close to anyone.

I loved the parking lot scene, man you can see Walt loosing it. I find it funny how he acts hard to others that don't know him, but follow orders to the real hardcore.

Everyone is loosing it and this can go anywhere !

Tension is something that the BB does very well in general but this episode seriously had me on edge throughout (despite comic relief in Skylar's clothes closet.)

Episode title: "Hermanos." Brothers. The word takes on even more meaning with the revelation about Gus' past.

So many brilliant moments in this one. Hector never rings his service bell, but when Gus was sweating it out in the elevator after his ostensibly cool-headed meeting with the DEA guys, the elevator bell keeps ringing, echoing Hector's bell in his head ... recalling his history that brought him to this perilous point ... a brilliant detail that didn't make complete sense until later in the episode.

Giancarlo Esposito's acting in the flashback was great. You could really believe that this was a younger, more emotional, less inured version of Gus. The way that the back-story referenced the movement of the narco empires from Colombia to Mexico, from cocaine to meth was beautifully done. The writing on this show is better than for many major movies these days.

This was mostly a Gus episode but Walt's cancer speech was a fine moment, and I was glad to see Andrea again. I still think she and the kid have some role to play in Jesse's life and that it might end up being significant beyond what already happened (being that her hermano Tomás killed Jesse's friend Combo.)
