Damn, I may have to sell off the rest of my Bwana so I can focus on Killers. This guy looks pretty good but I was hoping for a bit more variation. Still, the shortened tail not being hooked around so far should make displaying multiples easier.

there's also sculpted little teeth which gives it a bit of a fun personality IMO. they arent very visible in this shot.

    holy SHiTbALLs!

martin, bwana, and gargamel really outdid themselves on this one.. i dont even know where to begin,, my head is swimming. martin's full size figs are crazy! wild-style on the zag (mmmm, pink lips),, i love the execution on the hedoran and i love the overall affect that the deathra has. martin does eyes like nobodies business. looks rad on the killer, as well...

then there's the fucking kumon!! holy hell that's rad and the skull is absolutely captivating.. whew..

bwana did a great job, as well. solid as always, still has as much whimsy and childish freedom,, in some ways he's letting loose more than he ever has . i even managed to like his crazy mixed media fullsized hack jobs, for the first time.. that sitting zag is kind of to my liking..

thanks for the great coverage as per usual andy!!

And maybe if you read more closely yourself without jumping on people's toes so quickly you would have read when Andy wrote.. Thrashout is closing but.Gargamel will still be making toys, but I guess they'll be moving to an online model.

sheesh!, I didn't even get that info from Andy's blog. I think I read it in a bwana email or something. Who said I even looked at Andy's blog post?

I don't see your point, Bryce? I said Thrashout closing. Gargamel moving...just what Andy had said... And "you" as in a general statement. If I wanted to point at someone, I would have just called them out. ;)

    Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight....

I wonder if they'll have a higher production rate without a store dragging them down...?

I just thought they were moving, I'm pretty sure that's what Gargamel's blog said, that they were moving out of Tokyo.

It would be rad if they were starting a U.S. store, or even having an native english speaking agent in charge of U.S., and British sales...

most exciting toyshows took place @ thrashout for years with collectors
from allover the world meeting there. dont see how store would have been dragging them down at all...
if they are actually closing (with a webshop only) would be huge loss imo.

dont think a higher production rate is neccessarily a good thing,
but there seems to be less and less interest in japanese toys
(fxxking awesome hedoran garamon didnt even sell out)
in favor of "american monsters produced in japan" anyway.
doubtful more japanese toys would find takers anyway.

there is one worth checking out now:

... Normally saved for rainy days, we're switching it up with this Zagoran to celebrate the rare sunshine we get once in awhile.

I planned my holiday last year around getting to Thrashout for the 6th Anniversary, It will be great if they decide to keep a store format or at least continue to hold annual events, I want to plan another trip!

The Zokki kaiju releases have really slowed in recent years and i think it's due to the massive increase of collaborative work Gargamel have been doing. There has not been a regular release this whole year that has had me excited so I'm really hoping we see a new standard Deathra release before it's luckybag time again.

I think a large part of that has to do with the high exchange rate right now... I really think that "it's all just a little bit of history repeating", When Hiddy made a comment in Toypunks about how the Japanese decided they had factories in Japan and didn't need to go to China to get figures made (I'm paraphrasing). I could just imagine and American eventually saying the same thing about their toys...

That said, Japanese vinyl has the best feel, it isn't a myth, and when my wife and I "Play" with toys, we go straight to the Kaiju Shelf...

Eventually these things will fall out of flavor again, and we'll get some cheap toys from everyone jumping ship. Then a few more years down the road, it will re surge and some kid will be saying the same thing I am right now.

It's like skateboarding, it goes in and out of popularity (at least in the E. coast), but there are still those guys that shred no matter what, and when it becomes popular again, those guys are king, because they never stopped wrecking those park benches, and ripping down rails...
