Started going to hardcore shows around 95 big fan of gorilla biscuits, trail, h20, sick of it all, etc...
Im going to go see SCREAM in Amsterdam on Thursday. old Dischord band. the first record was their only good one in my eyes but it was great.
If anyone would like a link to one of my old bands stuff just send me a pm and I will get it send, or I could post it here I guess. the band was called Break It Up, the UK one. I never knew until the first 7" came out that there was a US band with the same name but luckily know one cared. Anyway it was pretty much straight forward hardcore with some members of Voorhees so that might appeal to a few people from the oldschool
I love Voorhees. I was on tour with a band in 2010, and we played with Lecky's band Sick Fuckin-O in the UK , and they were amazing
Lecky is a lunatic, but to be fair they all are, they all used to get into some nasty fights and usually while they where playing. BIU had Sean and Graham the original guitarists of Voorhees and yes they where an amazing band although i think the last records where a but poor but Spilling Blood is a hardcore classic
Agreed, one of the better 90's HC records. They definitely did do some mediocre stuff later on, but they also released a lot of records in general. I enjoyed The Horror as well. I did a show for them when they came to America back in 2007 I think it was
which band did you come over with? and the Horror kind of didn't excite me as the vocals where terrible. The vocalists old band was a more of a punk band and for me suited that style much more. I played in a Straight Edge band with the drummer and bassist (of the Horror, who both where in the later days of Voorhees) for a few years and nice dudes but now they are unstoppable beer monsters
I went with Coke Bust in Oct 2010. The later Horror records the dude uses a less high pitched approach to singing, and I like more. We played with Rot In Hell, which also has a Horror/ Voorhees member. Dude looked like a hippie though- beard, shaggy hair and I think a pink sweater.
I hope Judge never plays a show. No show can live up to what I have in my head. With that said Gorilla Biscuits is one of the few reunions that have completely destroyed the 1000 other mediocre ones. If Burn plays I will fucking destroy everyone I see. They have never played a bad show. ever! One of the most mosh laden moments I've ever seen was during the breakdown of Tales Of Shatou in Philly in the late 90s(rotunda maybe?). It looked straight ignorant. Loved it. If Chain plays, shit will get wild. Not wild like the way circlestorm got heckled when they played shows. A legit wild because I think most people have forgotten that.
Over on the Bridge 9 board, Joe Hardcore said he chatted with Mike Judge at a couple of shows and the basic answer is that it's never, ever going to happen. Judge would feel insincere getting up there singing those songs, which I completely understand and respect (while being a little disappointed, of course).
I grew up in Minneapolis with great punk and hardcore bands. I was friends with Destroy!, Disembodied and Harvest and played a few shows with them. Good times in the '90's. Still vegan/sxe after all these years and saw Unbroken two years ago but Chain of Strength would be amazing as well. I still listen to Ten Yard Fight on a regular basis and got back into Bury Your Dead when their old singer came back.
I will dig out some old photos as I have some great ones of bands like Battery, Los Crudos and tuns more
considering mike wouldn't even stand up and wave when civ acknowledged him as a friend/influence before they played ny crew at the black and blue show last year i HIGHLY doubt judge will play. i can see burn showing up on one of the bills. chain would be a bit weird with no one being sxe anymore...
