very nice busizem......!!! can't wait to see my grody baby... I think Dan has really honed in on his painting skills with this particular toy and found a nice signature style and vibe that people have been drawn to because let's face it... they look fucking incredible
Thanks guys! I think being a huge fan helps you connect with a sculpt... these guys have tons of nooks and crannies so they are just dying for rubs! plus the step downs in the body are perfect of up/down shots of paint... You can really do a lot with just the texture working with you... Always happy to do more!
tributes are cool every once in while, but how do they work if collectors dont get it and think its an original creation by maker? pretty misleading at the least. btw a fine line of course, but pretending its not even worth discussing is just plain ignorant. while same subject is discussed diverse in other threads (target earth mecha gorilla, hedoran reissues and the zag) any critique here is made fun of and mocked by fanboys.
Whatever, I wrote a longer response but it's not worth it. If someone doesn't know something's a tribute boo hoo, their problem but it doesn't validate knocking the maker. The TE/Gorilla Ju and Zag/Hedoran issues were different because they dealt with sculpt and were actually resolved and discussed. Not just outright bashing.
If anyone is really getting annoyed with you ALIT, it's because you are derailing a thread designed to discuss new GS stuff, to discuss a general subject: The merits or drawbacks of tribute "stolen" paint schemes. Maybe you should start another new thread for this discussion. Or not. Because it has already been discussed in other threads for toys that you may be a fanboy of. That's fine. It doesn't need to be discussed in every manufacturer's thread. Besides, I think it has been well established the tribute paint jobs have been a huge part of the Japanese toy scene for a very long time. It's a large part of the fabric here. It's not going to go away. Nor should it. That's the last I'll say on the subject. Back to more new Grody Shogun.
I love toys. I love Grody toys. If we want to discuss rip offs we might as well start at the beginning of existance. Just enjoy and if not let others enjoy. Or start a "I cant tolerate..." thread in the whatever section. Oh, and I am not talking to anyone in particular. Now, I am off to hike with a few of my grodys. Hope to het some good snaps, maybe with a horned lizard if I am lucky. ...No horned lizards but I did find a chain.
anybody who went to the PK show happen to ask where the 2nd batch of the Karoushi figures went? Weren't they intended for on-line sales?
i dont think they arrived yet, or they were just waiting for PK show to calm down before putting them up
The TAG guys said the box will arrive at the store sometime this week, and to sign up for the TAG email list if you'd like updates. If I see anything go live I'll say something in this forum.
Hey all, I wanted to share a terrible ebay experience I just went through. Please excuse the length. So a few days ago the ebay user named wholesomeentities was selling 2 beach glass Grodys, both the blue and green versions. Each was described as being the chase version and had slightly different colors than the normal release. Well it was only after I had won and paid for the blue bodied version that I realized the seller had simply switched the head and left arm of the two releases! So the blue body had a blue head and a green left arm, and the green body had a red head and a blue left arm...Yeah I felt like a fool. I called them out on it and demanded a refund. And while I did get a refund, the seller claimed that the grodys were exactly how they came in the box from TAG. She also said she got 15 items from the show, and it looks like she is unloading all of them on ebay. In fact tonight she just listed the exact same 2 beach glass grodys, but with the parts switched back to the way they were originally!! I just thought people here would want to know.
I know your trying to help but second hand info from an obvious shill artist does not make for good information. I work at TAG. I highly doubt that any one person got 15 pieces from that show. Also it's frowned upon around here to talk about e-bay/yahoo japan sales that are still on-going.
The point was not that they were selling 15 pieces. The point was that someone was buying grody toys, taking them apart and selling them as something else. I'm simply trying to prevent grody fans from being scammed...like I just was. Whats wrong with that? I would think that someone that worked there would be the most bothered by this.
