I love Gargamel and am not anti-Nike but no way do I want corporate logos on my monster toys. Soooo wrong.
Oddly, the swoosh mouth is only the 3rd worst part of the toy, IMO. First, I don't like the monopod aspect, second I don't like the eye, and third I don't like the mouth. It's a shame because I generally like Zazahn toys/tributes.
A little backstory on this toy: This was for the Nike Snowboard boot show at ISA/ISPO where a bunch of artists did their take on the boot. Kiyoka turned his boot into a mountain, and this character is a tree monster that lives on the mountain. There will be some custom HPs of this figure released at an event in the future, but beyond that, this figure will not be released. It was an art show one-off. Congrats to Kiyoka and the Gargamel crew for having fun with this one!
great info. If anyone comes across one of these and wants to pass, feel free to pick it up for me provided the price isnt ridiculous.
Btw, its name is "Snown". The most interesting point of the blog post is that Gargamel are working on the lucky bags!
Bummed to hear this isn't going to make it to a regular release. That being said, I will have to see if I could track one down some other way...
The Zazahn tribute is nice and I wouldn't mind it on my shelf. Glad to see new stuff coming from the Gargamel gang. I find this quite interesting as the Lucky Bags normally come out around the New Year right?
Fucking sacrilege!!!!! I own nikes, I own gargamel, but I'm a George Costanza on this: "Worlds COLLIDING!"
This one was cool: Ha, I could totally see this guy chasing scooby doo in the old cartoon! I like the figure, though again, I didn't push the button on it cause of the name on his chest... At least this time it's just a swoosh.
Isn't Misty Fog just Le Merde? Or is that a company, sort of like how the Super7 toys are produced by Gargamel or Secret Base, but released by Super7? These are at least sculpted by Kiyoka, so I figured they should be in this thread.
Misty Fog Toys is the company. The prior head used and the body is designed by Le Merde. The new head being released is designed and sculpted by Kiyoka Ikeda of Gargamel. Gargamel doesn't actually do the manufacturing. Gargamel just designs and sculpt. Gargamel uses the Obitsu vinyl factory to do the actual producing of their toys.
Right, but they kind of facilitate the production. I just meant that Mike probably didn't contact the factory, he probably contacted Gargamel and they set up the production.
