here's my display case now: and detail shots (plus top): i think its time to pare down, and focus like many other boardies have posted. i have two big boxes of minis besides this, i'd like to get rid of enough so everything fits within the billy shelf. i admit i like to collect all over the place, different companies and materials, instead of always focusing on completing sets, so it's a challenge. amazing collections i've seen here! truly inspiring for me, so thanks for posting. cheers!
^ that's a lovely display case you've made from the billys -- the red backdrop with black frames is bold. but you'll want to edit out the kidrobot toys.
I do like the case! I wish my old green Billy had been so tricked out - I was just using it as was out of the box, like a sucker.
Might be a tiny bit less bold than you think - The doors could be red, but since they're backlit they look black. Just a guess though.
Yikes. A wooden dummy. I've personally always kind of felt that way, especially regarding the entire Monster Family. I can't really explain it, but there's a definite look to them that appeals (even more to 'them' than 'us') to a much wider audience than say, an Ultra kaiju or ugly pollution monster. I couldn't give a shit less what someone else collects, but collections like that are really weird to me. Tons of Western with a smattering of Japanese vinyl that's readily available at a dozen online retailers. Diet Sofubi. Whatever makes you happy. Regardless, there definitely is a place to show that stuff off and it's not here.
Can I get an even closer shot of the Labbits, and [expletive deleted], (finally, I can say the word [expletive deleted], and everyone know's I'm not talking about "I Fart A Lot" don't mind everyone else, they're just jealous you have so much STEEZ Oh I guess some things are still better left unsaid, (Like [expletive deleted]) Can anyone direct me to the 2012 [expletive deleted] trading section?
TiredChildren was right: the doors are actually cream, but with the lighting the color was lost. i must have missed it in the rules, i didn't see anything about KR. should i seriously edit the photos to remove them, are they offensive? not being rude, just don't know. i'd love a link to what i'm missing thanks! it took a while to get how i wanted, between adding glass shelves in and the lighting. i wish now i had made more rows of lights, but now it would be a mess to go back and add to. i didn't want to get a detolf like everyone else, really happy with ikea's billy's.
If you're curious, I sort of see the Western, common stuff, as a gateway for collecting. For me, it was a more accessible way to start with designer toys, learning more and getting into my own collection. That is why I said it's time to start thinning out my collection, a lot of the western stuff doesn't appeal to me anymore. But my aesthetic is still often revolves around clean lines and simple design, so I guess thats why I like what you'd call Diet Sofubi. Again, totally new, so if you want me to correct something, just be specific?
Haha, Hell No. You collect what "toys" you collect, & this "is" the place to show it. This board's obviously for a certain reason, but from my understanding, this is for large toy collections in general. To confirm I read it right I admit I had to look again before agreein to post this, but, yeah, this thread was started in the General Interest section, by Missy, who typed, "I appreciate the individual toy pics, but i love seeing peoples toy rooms. Post pics here of your entire collection!". There are always going to be those of us voting kaiju & the like for everything here (we are fans after all & that's what we've come here for), and you're sweet to care if you offended anyone w' your collection, but that's their view, not yours. Personally, I'd say it's okay cause some kinda apply, but I have to step back, cause, well, that's me. Ha, so no, you don't have to remove certain toys for the pic or edit them out (but if you'd you actually do that, wow!). Otherwise in the dogs section you'd have to see something like an Elegab piece riding a poodle or in the aquariams section - a Nag terrorizing your nemo fish! Thanks for sharing, by the way Love the setup! Unfortunately I'm in a situation where I have my collection all but a few stuffed away like vampires in a bunch of boxes
Wow. I love crazy colors on toys and that collection pretty much nails it for a rainbow of real flavours. Technicolor nightmare! I also love the cardboard, bendy shelf. Pure Calamity.
Don't listen to Boo Velvet. He is new here too and he is wrong. We don't talk about or post pictures of D U N N Y S or other Kid Robot toys on Skullbrain. Please check the rules and unwritten rules here: http://skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13721 and here: http://skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13720 ([expletive deleted]= d u n n y And thanks mars.toyship for asking and offering to correct your mistake. More new bloods should be so accepting of our rules and a little criticism.
