Har, I still kickong myself for not going. I so wanted to see the Boredoms... But it was in the "big city" and $30 (?) was a lot of money when I was 17...
Yeah have the t shirt for that show. And the one after with L7 and the smumkins (should have never worn these, now after skating in them for years, their pit stained and tore up!!
I wanna say my first concert was beastie boys, john spencer & the roots but then I remeber that was the 1st concert I went to on my own & the 1st one I actually went to was new kids on the block & perfect gentlemen when I was 8 or 9
Holy jealous. Faith No More is one of my all time favorites. I got to see them in '97 at a small festival in MA. They took the stage after Limp Bizkit. Ha!
weird, i saw faith no more, soundgarden, and voivod in 90. those bands toured a lot together back then i suppose. saw gnr open for aerosmith in 88 as well. funny how all of these bands cross our collective paths. best concert i've been surprised by: seeing luscious jackson in a small club in cambridge with a then unknown ben harper opening. i had no idea who he was, but i was wondering why there were a ton of middle aged/older people at the show. then he played his song "like a king" and the whole place was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. and then i knew I was seeing something really special.
Live 105's BFD 4 at Shoreline in 1997... the lineup was: Dick Dale Squirrel Nut Zippers Space Third Eye Blind Toad the Wet Sprocket Echo and the Bunnymen Social Distortion Blur Erasure The Cure (headliner) would be waaaay excited if this lineup popped up today!
^^I was just watching the Cure headline at the reading festival from Friday night on TV. my first concert was the Beastie Boys & Run DMC on the Licenced to Ill tour 25 may 1987 at the Manchester Apollo UK. Still have the concert ticket somewhere.
Black Flag, Circle Jerks, JFA, & Dead Kennedy's, 1985, Fender's in Long Beach. Punk Rock & Skateboarding, those were the day's
first concert i went to was green day on halloween back in 94? pansy division opened for them. pretty awesome night. even after getting busted for sneaking out to go to the concert.
When I bought "The Real Thing" LP for "Epic" alone, it blew my mind so hard in so many ways that I can't even begin to describe it. Still one of my all-time fave records. One of the few things I actually do remember about that show is Mike Patton climbing up at least 12 ft. on the side of the stage; and singing from up there. Ha, I even was so lucky to see them again with L7 as support shortly after! I think I was still into MOTU back in '88... Jealous nonetheless!
Ill see that bet and raise you.... New Kids On the Block, with Debbie Gibson and Tiffany each with opening sets. I win. (ill pm you my addy for that nag of yours..)
My folks took me to the Houston Rodeo in 1983, where I saw the Gatlin Brothers play. I hated every second of it. In 1986, my friend took me to see Iron Maiden on their "Somewhere in Time" tour. A much better experience. The Vinnie Vincent Invasion opened up and were terrible.
depeche mode, omd, thomas dolby & wire at the rose bowl '88... i was 12, good times. when my little brother was 12, i took him to his first concert... beastie boys, L7 & house of pain at irvine meadows... also good times.
^That was my second concert. Remember that giant food fight? First concert was Thompson Twins and OMD at the San Bernardino Orange Show Fairgrounds in '86
First small venue show- The misfits in Wallington NJ (their hometown) no danzig though only jerry only. Big Venue- 1997 Metallica@ giant stadium, with 2 my friend and his dad.
Yea, add me to that jealousy list as well. Faith No More is in my top five, most definitely. I really wish I could see them on a reunion tour or something. I've never had the chance to see them live. My first concert ever was Greenday. It was alright. This was during the time that "Dookie" came out.
black sabbath reunion w/ pantera and system of a down. i came out reeking of pot and beer. never again!
First show I paid for myself: fIREHOSE at Maxwell's in Hoboken, 1988. I took Mike Watt's cigar (he had accidentally put the lid end in his mouth at one point in the set, extinguishing it) off his amp after the show.
