Looks really nice, my only thought is that it looks a tad too tall for me and I keep on thinking of that Buta proto that was (and probably remains) the ultimate Ooze tribute... Still nice to see these pop up, Buta and then SB and now Long Neck... not sure if I've seen other Ooze-It tributes around (well there's a sphere headed green figure in the Kadomiumtank shots that kind of goes in the same direction).
They are expensive for sure due to the crazy licensing fees Zoomoth had to pay to Nintendo... 3,000円 ($3 at WF. There are a few blue and yellow ones left... Also think there are some leftover Splatterhouse and Metro-cross keshi.
My wife was reading somewhere that WF will not have anymore Nintendo licences from now on, so this might be the last chance to get these. If this is true it sucks.
That's not the Famicom mascot; it's Disk-kun the Famicom Disk System mascot. You're breaking my heart. Nintendo sofubi is the bulk of my collection! If there's any way you could get the link from her I'd be hugely appreciative.
Yeah, the Metroid toys were definitely the highlight of this Wonderfestival. I'm not much of a keshi guy, so I had to get the vinyl from Nerd One. I want to say that the suit looks most like the version from Super Metroid, but the paint samples were done up like the Metroid Prime suits, so, not sure. The sculpt hits the mark on every level. It has six points of articulation- waist, shoulders and upper arms. There's a nice balance of detail against the stylized, retro look of the toy. It's as if Popy went back and made a toy of Samus' power armor. Coincidentally, Samus is just about the same size as Popy's vintage hero figures. If Nintendo stops granting licenses for WF, that would be a real shame. I loved those games growing up and it's been a thrill to see the characters pop out in soft vinyl form.
Zoomoth made the Samus eraser in Nama's picture. Zoomoth also made the actual Metroid aliens. NERD ONE did the yellow unpainted Varia Suit Samus Aran in akum6n's picture. No idea which factory, if that's what you're asking.
Thanks man. I was holding out hope that some day I'd be able to make a Nintendo toy for Wonder Festival (somehow) but it looks like that's never gonna happen now. Well, at least Namco and Capcom are still cool
Just noticed this thread (been away a while) I don't know who makes them but the purple cat is Kami-neko (biting cat) and the orange one is Yamamaya/Iriomote Yamaneko They are both from the manga/anime Azumanga Daioh
Anyone Looking for a Samus Aran should contact Ralph Niese [Bruno Orbit] on flickr. He's got 4 unpainted Samus to sell, $65 shipped. Probably wont last too long.
