Kazumitsu Akamatsu-san is the president of Marmit. Karzworks is Akamatsu-san personal studio name. On the SHB blog the person writing the updates on the blog sometimes state some of the sales are a cosignment or they are entrusting sales to Karzworks/Marmit booth at the festivals. Which tells me SHB is a seperate company not owned by Akamatsu-san. Some of the head sculpts for the Mutant & Kong species were sculpted by Akamatsu-san such as Radar-X and Invader-X heads.
Thanks Chimply, that is pretty much what I was thinking. The fact that Akamatsu-san sculpted those heads threw me for a loop.
I got a picture of the satan king, its at the bottom of the email edit: made more sense before the post before it was deleted
New Mutants series: Mars-X Very weird, but I love it. I also like what we can see of the new body sculpt -- Hoping to see more soon!
Toys Sept 16th 2012 020 by mildew180, on Flickr I love the new and old. I sure would like to complete a set of Tolueneman figures. Here are the four that I have.
Haha, I think those may have been mine, sans the multicolored bb one. I would have wanted that other GID variation one as well a few years back. Once I sold my lot of them, I realized I missed having that sculpt around so I had to find the blue one again. He makes a great companion to Howaton. Superfestival 60 exclusives: The only one I personally care for is the Mars-X, though he looks weird without his mouth painted. Mountain Dew Invader-X is pretty cool too, but I don't do clears. And the other two look like they're using leftover bodies from the Angel Abby Skull-X Satan King tribute (with red and black paint added to the shoulders)? It's kind of relieving to know I can pass on these, but I'm sure others will love them.
Wow!..I really like the Mars-X. I don't know if it's just me but the clear vinyl looks cheap. I wish SHB would cast these in darker or puke green vinyl.
Agreed on all counts. These never did anything for me until I saw them in these new colors. I just stared at andy's pics on kaiju korner for a good 10 minutes. Mars-X is really, really sharp.
thought this was a new Zollmen but i am told its SHB by a contact so damn cool......... obey by b-eaK, on Flickr
I really enjoy the new sculpt as well(Zombie guy from "They Live"). I'd like to see SHB do a few more Zombie sculpts in the future. The Tarman from "Return of the Living Dead" comes to mind.
