I'm a J.R.R. Tolkien nerd, and while they aren't 'true' black metal, I have yet to tire of this band whose material is rooted in Tolkien lore. Summoning - Moondance Summoning - Dagor Bragollach Carach Angren is another band i've had on heavy rotation lately. They have concept themed albums like King Diamond, and incorporate symphonic elements into the music. I love this shit.... Carach Angren - The Funerary Dirge of a Violinist Carach Angren - The Sighting is a Portent of Doom Carach Angren - A Strange Presence Near The Woods
I don't usually like any Tolkien related crap nor do I like movies in general but Flukt, with Ghaal, is raising my attention http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ozf407ofbY
I was watching the news when I saw this The good part is around 1;50 min. http://www.euronews.com/2012/10/22/mons ... -festival/ I don't think I've heard from Erna Omarsdottir before. She's great ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJiwyI4mPQ4
Vice's One Man Black Metal documentary. Apologizes if this has been posted before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQl6PzXU4cQ&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sbhA78RO5E&feature=relmfu
This finally came in - I think it's going to be my favorite BM release of the year ! I also got the Din Brad cd. I thought it would be similar to DordeDuh - it's not as great but my family hated it so much, it was worthwhile
I think this is the thread we've discussed Ghost in... Everybody make their offering to receive the Secular Haze download?
^^not really feeling the circus waltz going on here and what's with papa's baby arm on the cover art? despite this, still really excited for this record
Ha ha! I didn't notice that. Did you follow the website as it started out with just one instrument's track and then added the others in individually as people signed up for their mailing list? I thought that was kinda cool...but I did like the incomplete song better than the complete song. Still, I like it and am looking forward to the new album.
I took the small hand, and art overall, as a nod to medieval artwork where proportions were off like that all the time. I mean, in a lot of those, baby Jesus was a scaled down grown. Lots of small hands in those, and other strange proportions. Anyway, I like the new song. No complaints. A few seconds in I was like "This new Uncle Acid is sweet" then I remembered it was Ghost. The waltz sound is more UA kind of. But I'm still into it. I have faith (or should it be "lack of faith" to be properly satanic?) in the new album. It's tough to follow up such a strong debut.
In my recent quest to find unoriginal monochrome BM, I stumbled on Kult Ofenzivy. Essentially, it sounds like Transylvanian Hunger with Attila on vocal. Both their albums are 7$ at Deathgasm !
Been enjoying Bornholm lately. Haven't given Inexorable Defiance a spin yet, but I got that, the compilation of On the Way of the Hunting Moon & Awakening of the Ancient Ones, & March for Glory and Revenge recently. Really good band.
^ Thanks for mentioning Bornholm, hadn't heard them before. Will definitely be picking up some of their stuff ! I've been rocking these lately... Abigor - Channeling The Quintessence Of Satan Abigor - Dawn Of Human Dust Windir - Likferd Windir - Resurrection Of The Wild Forefather - Steadfast Forefather - Steadfast
Saw KVELERTAK earlier this week and I am still in awe! This was one of the best metal shows I have ever been to. Their new record is on heavy rotation since. I guess my neighbours got to like it too by now
