Re: Stoner/Doom Troubled Horse and Witchcraft are the only two modern bands with classic sounds I listen to. So good.
Re: Stoner/Doom wow the guitar in troubled horse is really good.. had not heard them before and its catchy.
Re: Stoner/Doom John Hoyles also plays in Spiders and was in Witchcraft. Love how he's not one dimensional in his playing.
Re: Stoner/Doom YES!!! "Yes, the news that everyone has been waiting for! Uncle Acid has confirmed to us the title and tracklisting of the bands forthcoming third album - Mind Control." "The album is set to be released to coincide with their sell-out debut London show at The Garage on Friday March 22nd"
Re: Stoner/Doom 2nd that.. i found this the other day http://www.reddit.com/r/monsterfuzz/ it's like finding bands i should have known about.
Re: Stoner/Doom Nice helpful link! I've mentioned it before but http://www.aftersabbath.com !! one of the best music blogs i've encountered. they are up to their 81st free compilation of heavy, fuzzy and smokey obscurities
Re: Stoner/Doom ^^^^ See kiddies, that's why when you're in a rock band you should never ever get clean. An artist's best work always comes while under the influence
Re: Stoner/Doom I was showing a friend of mine the new Toxic Conifer/Himalayan tree monster that came out in the 2013 Gargamel Lucky Bag and he said it reminded him of Sleep and that I shouldn't get rid of it, I totally agree. Sleep - Dragonaut http://youtu.be/zj9IAvv32wE
Re: Stoner/Doom Yeah, there's a 7" preceding the full length as far as I know. I haven't heard that yet, gotta wait till I get home w/some speakers.
Re: Stoner/Doom Come on out to Portland! The early part of the year is looking to be quite good. Actually, I missed Yob last Saturday. But I've got Om this Saturday (thanks for getting me into them!). And then Graveyard and Red Fang - though I might skip out on RF. And Ghost in April. Bummed though that Boris is skipping over Portland...and that they're playing in Seattle the weekend of my wife's birthday.
Re: Stoner/Doom I'll be sure to rub it in some more after the show this weekend! I've seen Yob before, and they play around here fairly often, which is why I wasn't too bummed about missing out on last week's show. I've been trying to get over a nagging cold. Still, it woulda been an awesome show I'm sure - they played Catharsis in its entirety.
Re: Stoner/Doom Just had to confirm/rub it in that Om was indeed an excellent show! I was surprised at how well they recreated their songs in a live setting. And they had the sound dialed in so that it was crisp, absolutely clear, but still brutally loud. It and Ghost's show last year are two of the best shows I've been to in a loooong time. Really made me want to get a lot better at playing bass. The only thing that was kinda awkward was that it seemed like their 3rd musician may not have known how to definitively end some of the songs and so the crowd wasn't sure if the song was over or if they were just pausing before launching back into it. In one case there was zero crowd reaction between one song and another, and it was spotty after a few others. Because of that I think Om just said "fuck it" and ended the show with no encore. But aside from that, when they were playing it was soooooooo good!
Re: Stoner/Doom recent bandcamp discovery http://www.alkahestnyc.com maybe we should start a bandcamp discovery thread, it's like falling into a rabbit hole of gnarly new tunes. also great app called bandcamper for iphone that lets you stream anything on bandcamp through your phone! Makes for a quick solution when you don't have your ipod around. also enslaved, pallbearer, royal thunder, ancient vvisdom anyone going?
Re: Stoner/Doom What the hell's going on here, I thought we talked about Ghost in the black metal thread. It is awesome though. I don't care how overdone the 60s/70s talk show video set is. And Ghost BC? Oy. I hate shit like that. Whatever. It's one of those things where I just can't see anyone actually saying that outloud seriously unless they're being paid to or they're suckers.
Re: Stoner/Doom Thanks for posting that NT! Great stuff! Went on to do some of my own venturing on bandcamp, not sure if this has been posted here before. Seems like some cool psych-stoner stuff from Australia. http://dreamtime.bandcamp.com/album/dreamtime-sun-lp
Re: Stoner/Doom I like that Sons of Hun nice find, thanks! Anyone interested in getting the colored vinyl version of the Uncle Acid 7" domestic, Last Rights has them. There's an option to select black or colored vinyl, but I don't think you get a choice of which color you get. I don't care, both versions sound cool to me. I've ordered from them before, they've always been cool and easy to deal with. http://lastrightsrecords.storenvy.com/p ... yl-pre-ord
