Re: today $1 = 96 Yen Aside from the recently strong performance of the dollar... "Heizo Takenaka, who has advised Mr Abe on economic issues, and whose name has been floated as a possible candidate for the next head of the Bank of Japan (BoJ), said the yen's fall was a result of a correction from an excessive strength, and that the BoJ's latest easing measures were aimed at beating deflation, not a weaker yen." I may go to Japan in October. By then, I want 135 Yen to the dollar... that was the Yen/dollar value when I went to Japan in '98.
have an app on my phone so i see it everyday. i haven't read that article but someone was telling me that Japan wants to see it get to 1usd = 120jpy by sometime next year. so...hope that you will at least be in a 1usd = 100jpy when you travel in October
It would really be nice to see the yen revert back to levels not seen since 2007. I think I enjoyed 6 months of my dollar being worth more before it nose dived. I'm sure the YJA sellers won't be happy but I will. Still doesn't make up for all the years overspending because of a strong yen. Hell if it gets to 135 yen per dollar I might even think trip.
broke $1 = 100 Yen a few days ago and today it seemed like my dad wants me to take a trip to Japan by telling me to look for a good deal on a hotel + flight
Well that dollar gain on the yen was short lived: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/08/busin ... .html?_r=0 Got an invoice today and the rate went from 97 to 91. WTF!!!!
Yeah, over the past 24 hours the rates just plummeted, the Yen surged and this was coupled by a drop in the dollar. Even worse if you are from up here, believe me. I was really liking that exchange for a while, and hope it comes back. As messed up as Abe's economic moves are, it sure does help the foreign buyers.
Yeah, I hadn't been paying attention, and was very surprised when I sent a Paypal payment in yen and it was above 100:1. Reminds of of the good ol' days when I used to buy lots of things on YJA.
Yeah, maybe good for you guys. Meanwhile the CDN dollar is tanking. Speaking of good old days, soon enough it is going to be back to the good ol' days of 85c.
PP is still charging a higher rate even though they claim the rate is being based on today's exchange action
Well, the Canadian dollar tanking is good for Quebec and Ontario's economy... Actually not too sure why it's happening though. Oil prices down?
been following the conversion rate for about the last year now.. glad to see it comin down, nice change for once
