I just finished the fifth one yesterday. Glad to be up to date... BUT THERE ARE SO MANY LOOSE ENDS! And the downfall of catching up with series is that... well, you have to wait for the new book/series to come out. Which in this case means a few years. Sigh.
^^^ yeah, The real Bear and the Maiden Fair with a wooden sword. The conversation between Joffrey and his grandfather Tywin was great. Another example of how Joffrey is a pretender and most definitely not the real deal.
As a reviewer pointed out though, it was a rare instance where Joffrey -was- right with pretty much everything he said. "What's great about this scene: We all love-to-hate Joffrey right? And we all agree Tywin is a scary-brilliant badass tactician, right? Yet Joffrey is right about everything! As the king, he should be kept informed. Sure, his proposed solutions will likely be terrible, but it's his duty to know what's going on and he must start learning this stuff. He shouldn't have to go out of his way to attend those meetings, either -- he's the king, they should come to him. And Dany could be a serious threat. For once, Joffrey is correct, yet Tywin still whipped him." In full: http://tvrecaps.ew.com/recap/game-of-th ... en-fair/3/
^^ Yeah, grouchy old Tywin is gonna regret underestimating Daenerys . . . . maybe her babies will melt down Casterly Rock into a big lake of molten stone.
Ugh. So bummed, there are only 3 episodes left this season. Not looking forward to a long wait for more GoT.
I can't even recall when I finished book 4. Seems sooooo long ago. Can't wait for all the books to be completed so I can finish the series.
The books are well worth the time reading, and I'm pretty strict about the time I blast away on entertainment
Yeah. Not worried about the books. Although, I can sympathize. I just can't find the time to sit down and read. Life is too crazy these days. (Well, I guess I could use my toy hunting time to read. But that's not gonna happen!) Someone post a spoiler for me... Do Daenerys' dragons get bigger? Or are they full grown? I want them to get bigger!
You sure? Spoiler They do. In the books, it becomes a huge problem. But she rides one at the end of the fifth! This season is the first half of the third book though...
Why did he not pick up the special knife before running? I know he's a clumsy kinda guy but that was too stupid even for him.
I just now finished watching it and was thinking exactly the same thing! Dumb ass! Is it just me or is anyone else sick of the whole Daenerys Targaryen storyline? How everyone just drops whatever plans they have to stare at her beauty and fight for her. Please, she's not all that.
I dont mind the Daenerys storyline . . . i just think the writers are struggling a bit to fit all the different characters into the running time each week. I just want Joffrey and Cersei to be killed so much its starting to do my head in.
I plot horrible deaths in my head almost every hour for both of them. I really hope: Spoiler Joffrey is not poisoned like in the books (from what I hear) It's too quick and not horrible enough. He needs to be stabbed repeatedly then set on fire, only to run and fall off a castle wall or something!
Catching up on the past couple episodes, so I decided to come back to this thread. Strangely enough, there aren't any major spoilers (that you could make out if you didn't know what it referred to). So I won't add to anyone's ruination that still might not have seen 'em. But I find the pacing of this season really odd. First off, we know they are dividing the book into two seasons, but how this division is going about it really strange - the few readers can guess where the finale will be, or close to it. But what puzzles me is with all the stuff they are cutting out of the book. Naturally there are small events they can't include due to the length, and others aren't that important, but then the stuff they decide to include or even add-in extra don't mesh at all. I feel (and maybe it is because I am seeing the whole picture) that the stories are really hodgepodge and too much is going on, while at the same time being too little - it's hard to explain. More like, we are just being fed scenes, which look spectacular and are highly entertaining of course, but the fluid story that was there [and maintained in earlier seasons] has been lost.
They add BONERS! (But to respond to your post proper, I think the book was all over the place as well, but that's what made its charm. Sort of like that August 14 Solzhenitsyn book or that other Perec book. Ah, I love my memory)
LMAO. Nevermind. I like the Daenerys storyline just cuz she is always getting naked. Nuthin wrong with that!
