^ Awesome post SecretSpace. Love that poster, and hadn't come across it in all my vinyl travels. I love how old school records used to come with extras. However, when it comes to posters included with lp's....nothing comes close to this..... Spoiler Your post prompted me to take some quick, shitty pics of most of my superhero/sci-fi/etc. lp's I want that Hobbit 12"..... Spoiler
Prince, eyes scarred forever! the other records are great! thanks for posting. I have a couple of those, but some have never seen. been inspired and digging through records most of the day.. who's sitting on the biggest collection I wonder? I have a little more than 2k vinyls..
Counted the collection about a year ago, and was just over 3000 12" and 250 or so 7". That's not including several hundred in shitty condition taking up space in the garage that I really need to get rid of.

I'm getting pretty irritated at record prices now that they're popular again. $45 for a new-release LP!?! Fuck off! And even more irritated when LPs don't come with download cards - I do most of my music listening away from my living room/turntable. It should be industry standard to include a free download with purchase of an LP (looking at you, Southern Lord). Last complaint: If you're releasing two or more colors of vinyl, put a sticker on the shrink wrap so I know what color I'm getting. When I'm paying a premium for vinyl I'd like to get the one that's most aesthetically pleasing to me.
Totally agree with prices being dumb nowadays. Problem I guess with doing anything for too long, always going to have been cheaper in the beginning. Shipping prices are stupid nowadays too. Media mail bro, no need for $16 UPS shipping.
I release records and collect records so...its crazy at home. Looking for ealry 80's japanese hcpunk 7"s...
It's eerie how collecting records is almost as bad as this other vinyl (toys). I see very similar practices going on with the genre I collect -namely oldskool jungle/drum n bass as I do in toy world. It's all supply and demand. A very common older record will suddenly increase a few hundred percent in price if only one or two copies are listed for sale on discogs (kind of like vintage toys). Then of course you have newer limited press releases (which in most cases is limited only because the small labels these days putting them out can only afford to do runs of 100-200 tops) and jackasses buy up all the extra copies to sell in aftermarket there at jacked prices (kind of like newer hyped toys). Sounds oh so familiar no?
Eh, I'm not really dealing with anything like you're describing, Lixx. Purely MSRP from the record label. Even though some of the records I buy are "limited", I don't think any of the stuff I'm buying is collectible, flip-able, or made artificially scarce - everything I want is easily obtainable. If I wanted to assure myself of a particular color vinyl I could order from the label on-line, but I'd rather support my local shops and not pay shipping on top of MSRP. And every so often they'll actually do the sensible thing and put a sticker on the packaging so you know what color you're getting. If anything it reminds me of variant comic book covers.

I always appreciate the download cards but typically end up buying the cd version too. im a sucker for bonus packs with patches or posters.
BTW, there's a new vinyl record collecting app that you guys might want to try out (it's on iOS...) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/recordbox-vinyl-search-collect-with-discogs/id1212071750?ls=1&mt=8

There has to be a thread already about this somewhere. But I've been away and can't find it now... Plus there use to be a few other board members besides me involved in a record label (that actually makes records).
Oracle says.......... http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?...le-collect-vinyl-records-on-this-board.38095/ Started by some guy named @Chad Hensley no less! I got close to doing a 45 rpm record release for my "War of the Kusogon" but it had to get shelved for various unreasonable and unresolved issues. Now that Kusogon is being Made in Japan again, I can hopefully, finally complete the work and do another boxed set w/45 and book. I loved the hell out of the POWER records from the 1970's as a kid and that has long been an influence on my projects. This blog has not been updated in four years but has a lot of great reviews, including POWER records MONSTER SERIES: http://scarstuff.blogspot.com/2006/03/power-records-monster-series-1974.html?m=1 This blog is pretty great too: http://powerrecord.blogspot.com/?m=1

kichigai can you post your thread above in the original record collecting thread and then we'll delete this one.
Does anyone here like Cadabra Records? - http://www.cadabrarecords.com/ Mostly spoken word horror/dark fantasy stories from authors like Lovecraft, Ligotti, Smith, and Poe read aloud by others.
I finally picked up Magic Sword's Vol. 1. Been listening to it forever on bandcamp, and figured I should spend some money on an album I enjoy so much.
