4 my little ponies made their way into the house today (twilight sparkle, applejack, princess cadance and rainbow dash)... but my favorite pony:
^^^^ ...Skullbrain has a Brony. I Repeat, Skullbrain has a Brony. AND Brony culture has even made 'The Houston Press'... http://blogs.houstonpress.com/rocks/201 ... ny_edm.php AND... A Brony rave: http://youtu.be/yhSSOANnsPk
A year or two back there was someone here who was a self-described Bronie. Name escapes me at the moment.
Loved "American Juggalo." Found it here: http://vimeo.com/29589320 Great l'il doc. OG Maysles-style. Thanks again for the heads-up.
Woop woop! I gotta admit, I'm a little fascinated by Jaggalos. Though I certainly like seeing them through the lens of a camera more than I like seeing them in person. And those ICP guys, despite coming across as half-retarded (forgive me the "r" word), are geniuses for so thoroughly identifying and merchandising to their market.
First time I saw a gaggle of Juggalos (who were quite young and all painted up) I thought "it's really weird that there are such hardcore KISS fans who are under the age of 40." I liked the documentary for being so honest ... it exposes everything pathetic about The Gathering but also shows that they're ultimately harmless misfits having a good time. As much as their scene is foreign to me I figure it's just another USA subculture. As someone who was heavily into punk/industrial, has thoroughly enjoyed Grateful Dead shows and Acid House/Rave, I don't really feel qualified to diss them. Yeah, they're dumb and pseudo-tough, but there's a bit of that in "our" scene too.
...JUST found a damn funny joke 'My Little Brony' ad: http://www.collegehumor.com/video/69133 ... commercial Gotta admit, i'd kinda buy one. The Brony that is, NOT the Pony.
The Dark Knight Pities NO Bronie. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/603869 Best hide those cutie marks, boys.
Have you heard any term like that for us, Jason, or anybody? I can't recall ever coming across one (Thank Godzilla).
Agreed. I met someone the other day who you could see was visibly disturbed by seeing my Kaiju collection. They have mickey mouse issues though. To them it was exactly the same as seeing their parents mickey mouse collection room. All toys = kitsch childish consumerism to them and can't blame them. That's why it's best not to judge or be defensive, rather just to quickly and silently shuffle away from the bronies and to our own little corner of ridiculousness.
I honestly don't give a shit about Bronies. People are welcome to like whatever they want. That doesn't give them immunity to being made fun of, but that doesn't seem bother these people anyway. Like someone said earlier, they must really be brimming with confidence.
My thoughts exactly. They casually mention cloppers in a song, but I would have liked to see that explored.
I saw the Bronies documentary on Netflix streaming and it completely lacks any sort of an objective viewpoint. IMHO there's nothing worse than these "by fans, for fans" documentary projects. Netflix streaming also has a couple of documentaries up about Firefly and Star Wars fans that are pretty similar.
I am not a Brony.... because that's a silly term. In fact, downstairs away from my bedroom shelves I have my Sunguts collection that is kept company by Ponys! When I was a little kid I watched everything that was a cartoon practically; from MLP to Stawberry Shortcake to GI Joe to Vampire Hunter D. Deeeeeeeeeeee! Who's this Pony? Yeah, that's a pony avatar of me. No bats though, go figure. Yes, that is Brock's voice actor. Setting up a joke here, wait for it... Bonus Points: Stoney Pony
