I have a few toys, who's balance leave a lot to be desired. I wondered what you all used to help secure wobbly toys in place, if anything? I'm a collector of PEZ & have experienced the 'domino' affect more times then I'd like to admit & I worry when my toy collection gets bigger, it might suffer from the same problem. One little bump & everything will topple, all because one unbalanced toy stumbled. The only thing I have kicking around at home is blu-tac & I worry it may damage my toys. I've had someone suggest Museum Gel, but I've only been able to find crystal/glass suitable gel. Any thoughts?
I haven't had this problem so far, been lucky I guess. Assuming they are vinyl, I've seen mention of people using a hair dryer and heating the feet/legs and straightening them to stand up. You can run cold water over it for a 10-20 seconds after or put it in the freezer for the same amount of time I believe? There are a few posts about this here and there about this, just can't recall where.. Searching "hair dryer" might help!
The particular toys I'm having issues with, the legs are very straight, but they have tiny feet & HUGE heads, so they can stand, but a tiny bump & they topple. The QiQi toys by Creo Design x Ziqi. You can see the bits of blu-tac I'm currently using(for the bottom 3), hoping to find a more permanate solution.
^^ Yep, Blu-tac . . . works a treat. I've never had an issue with it ruining the toy. Most undersides of feet are unpainted and the Blu-tac doesn't affect the vinyl as far as i've seen. Use a smaller amount and put it at the back of the foot so it won't be seen from the front when displayed. The only other alternative i can think of is to display the wobbly toy leaning against a sturdy one.
There's some putty stuff you can get, like Home Depot and Target have it I think. Can't remember the name. Doesn't solidify. Doesn't screw up paint or vinyl. Holds them in place fine. I use it on my Medicom VCD figures who have some serious gangsta lean issues.
I agree with 'sticky tack" Frog tape 3m makes these little clear squares that are similiar to sticky tack. Now I just use some of my wife's sculpt. A ear or a hand. Sculptee I have opens toys to pour BB's in to the feet to weigh them down. We are using a ollie for a mask I'm making for a Halloween show. I'm just using ollie, it is not for ollie!!!!! Just being clear!!! We weighed him down using penny's. I believe sticky tacks my favorite of all. You use a very small amount!!!
