Hi there My name's Michael and I'm from Texas. I'm kind of new to the whole designer toy thing. I've been collecting Glyos system toys for about 2 years and a recently got a Henshin Cyborg and a Gargamel Micro (Hikiju's Ghost?). I'm really interested in RxH stuff and want to start a small collection of it.
Hey folks, My name is Lee, I am a longtime lurker and new board member. Been collecting both Western and Japanese vinyl for about six years, and pretty much have exclusively focused on kaiju the last couple of years (with the exception of a few Western customizers). You folks have a great community here. Amazing pool of knowledge and experience. I learned a shit ton about this hobby prior to registration just with the handy search function. I kept reading....and reading... I never thought a message board for Japanese toy collectors would have a rabbit hole that goes so incredibly deep. But the SB rabbit hole goes a loooooong way down!
Hey everyone. Longtime reader, first time doucher. I may be the only person on here so lazy that it took me two years to make my first post. I'm very social. Anyway, I'm mainly into Monstock, MVH and Instinctoy at the moment, though I haven't had the ability to acquire much until just recently. Started collecting vinyl in 2007 (lots of posts on KR and Circus Posterus forums under this same dull username), but all I've really been interested in for the past year is Japanese toys. Six years from now I'll probably only be interested in porcelain vaginas or plaster casts made from wolf penises. If you're in the L.A. area, I'm at most toy shows and events around there. I also run http://www.allvinyls.com, though there's not much stuff there yet that would interest the crowd here. So I guess what I'm trying to say is "hello".
Enter Sokubo Howdy everyone! My name is David (username Sokubo), and I'm a big fan of giant monsters; King Kong, Godzilla, Ultraman and the ilk. That's what compelled me to join this board in the first place, actually. So you can expect to see me around the "Japan Toys" forum alot, discussing my favorite lines (CCP, Billiken and Jin-Koubou). Cheers, David.
Oh great. Just what we need, another David on the forum. (Totally kidding of course!) Welcome to the forum Sokubo. With that list of likes you've definitely come to the right place. For even the long-time fans [myself included] I find there is always new stuff to learn about on here. So it sounds like you might be interested in the more 'realistic' sculpted toys, based on those companies?
One of us will have to fight it out to see who is the true David! Thank you! It seems like a very nice place indeed, I've searched high and low for a good "Toy Collecting Forum". Skull Brain fits the bill well. Yes, I'm mostly interested and mainly collect the more realistic Figures and Garage Kits. Recently, CCP has blown me away with their excellent Garamon figure. Billiken kits are the classic staple, too.
Welcome Sokubo / David, you've found the best discussion spot on the web. Now let the confusion begin! --Sokko / David
Hey everyone, I'm Jason, I'm also a long time lurker and new user. I'm Australian but I'm currently living in Tokyo, I've only been seriously collecting since living in Japan (about 18 months) but I've been casually buying stuff for years. I mainly collect japanese kaiju stuff (M1, Marusan, Bullmark) but I also focus on Sunguts, Uamou, Dehara and RxH. Besides toys I also collect retro video games. I'm pretty excited to be posting here finally, I've learnt so much just lurking and I look forward to getting amongst it.
Welcome Jason! Pretty puhlease, if you have a chance to visit the toy stores in JP, and if you can manage a few clandestine photos, I would love to see that. Are you on an extended stay in Japan, and can you speak Japanese? Looking forward to seeing your toys.
Hi Jason, an Aussie in Tokyo, please can you create a direct tunnel/funnel for toys to aus for us I'll be the one at the bottom of the kaiju wormhole, waiting with my arms outstretched wearing the kaiju taro t shirt 'I don't buy kaiju anymore' K? Ta, thanks...
Oh how I miss Kaiju Taro! I loved their boxes, as they had such fun stickers: This photo was posted by DeJesus back in 2009 KT also had a lot of toy photos archived as well, but poof! All gone Ok, I'll stand in line at the end of the toy worm hole--please send me a few Bullmark vintage Tiger 7s!
I'll be second in line for those standard sized Bullmark Tiger 7's Wait I don't have any- that might make first right? You can still access kaiju taro's flickr page Grace: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaiju-taro/
Thank you Chris! That's wonderful!!! Ok, I am obsessed with Tiger 7, I really would LOVE to have an army, something like... pretty puhlease? P.S. Ahhhhh.... if toy adoptions could be as easy as copy/paste P.P.S. see derphead! You've caused an instant sensation! P.P.P.S. Hey Chris! No cutsies! P.P.P.P.S. Chris, you're going to have quite a wait time, my T7 quota is very large!
haha thanks guys, I'd actually be ok with acquiring toys for people occasionally, I know how damn hard it is to find stuff sometimes, especially in Australia. And I can definitely take photos of toy shops and shows. Mr Humphreys, my wife and I both work here full time, we're planning on moving back to Aus sometime this year though, which is going to hurt. My japanese is fairly basic but I know enough to get by most days.
