Part of what I love about collecting these toys is that they are all individually handpainted. In that way, each is essentially unique. While it admittedly causes me no end of consternation sometimes when buying toys, I still love to do all the comparisons of different paints on them. Everyone has their particular preferences too, which is great; some people like heavy colours, while others like light sprays allowing more vinyl to show through. In the end, neither is and less than the other - both incredibly excellent toys.

    never again Kaji...never again.

this is some straight up bullshit to actually pack something like this and send it to someone who spent their hard earned money on it.

my wife checked the packaging and there were no signs of paint on the plastic at all, so save the it must've rubbed off in transit arguments...

you can even tell by looking at it closely.

tsk, tsk your quality control is GARBAGE..

That seems a little harsh. Accidents happen. Would he be willing to do a repair?

Harsh indeed, karma comes in many forms and I wouldn't want to piss any of them off without seeking a response from him first (if you haven't).

Not to be a dick, but good luck with that. I know I'll never buy from Kaji again after having a similar experience and not receiving a single reply to my various extremely polite (well, eventually not so much), bi-lingual attempts at getting a response from him. I know of at least two other board members, Tony not included, that've had even worse experiences, only one of which got resolved (and from what I hear the means of communication used to finally elicit a response from Kaji in that case were also beyond personal contact, to put it politely).

I know it sucks but there are probably a dozen guys on this board who could touch that up for you. Just a solution if it comes to it.

you know what, you guys have a point. you really do.

i suppose it is a little harsh. i just find it poor customer service to not reach out to me before shipping it, explain the mistake that it will be fixed and just wait a little longer. vs. shipping it anyways as is?

do you guys honestly believe he didnt know that happened? WOW.

its not a small defect, it happened before it went into the packaging, dried as is, then was packed, and that's obvious.

why didnt he fix it when it happened then?

as an artist there should be some level of quality control, dont you agree?

if you think im going to pay $40.00 to ship it back to Japan so he can fix it and i wait longer to get it back, you've got to be kidding yourselves.

karma?? c'mon mark. im an honest collector, don't flip, or trade-flip anything. is this my karma for being an honest collector? i dont even collect Blobpus, it was for my wife. she's a fan and was let down - big time.

why would i ever pre-order/order from him again? so i can wonder over 45 days if it will be painted w/o mistakes?

from what i've heard already via pm from some of you, this isnt the first time something like this has happened.

    im done...

I was saying karma as for what you are saying now, not for how you have been in the past. I just wouldn't talk shit publicly about an artist to begin with is all I'm saying.

Isn't that the back anyway? I understand the point, but you would never see it if you display him from the front.

I don't think mecha is bad-mouthing the artist. He paid good money for a toy with a very bad flaw in the work. He can be pissed about it on a collector's forum with friends, no?

True and i think mecha can and should be upset.

But I hope folks can also try to see a little bit more from maker perspective. I think kaji can easily revert back to small runs, japan only releases like how his whole collabo series started with yamoblob barabran anyway. then we can all complain again how expensive the stuff will be in secondary market as we cannot simply just shop for them anymore in the comfort of being infront of computers. i am sure he will then be able to make sure every piece is painted to perfection. he listens to overseas demands, make open runs, quality suffers occassionally and public opinion turned against him. Of course he is no kaiju robinhood either. he certainly makes money off bigger open run orders and buyers should expect quality products. I guess we just cannot have the best situation all the time in life.

You are right, it is a double-edged sword.
But I think if he cannot keep up the quality than he should produce less.
There have been quite some complaints lately.
Also, wasn't it six7777 who waited two years for a custom Yumenoko by Kaji?

Those things drove me away from getting a Blobpus custom made - long waiting time, bad communication, and the possibility you get a rushed, half-hearted paint job!?

Sorry about this man. Poorly shipped toys is a peeve.

Does he still continue to ship in an envelope? Ahem, more of like a plastic sleeve with adhesive to close the opening. I love his toys and I admire his works. But after having a few experiences myself, and seeing this, it's definitely disheartening. It's unfortunate that my view of untarnished respect has been negatively impacted. It's not like I can get irritated at a retailer; this is directly from the man's shop himself. I mean, it's all included in the price, correct? If not, can we add an extra 500yen for a box? My Enma and Ollie both came in a plastic envelope with no bubble wrap or any other protective padding aside from it's original bag and the envelope. When I first received my GID Ollie my heart sank and I was pissed. I was especially furious when it happened again on the Enma! Amazingly, no drastic damage like you experienced Mecha, but there were scratches, especially some nicks on the sharp points and raised areas. I forget about the Sludge Demon pair, but I think they were shipped the same way.

The paint doesn't necessarily leave a residue on the packaging. I've observed my fair share of scratched still in bag toys. Definitely can be poked from the outside, plastic is surprisingly easy to pierce. Especially when there's pounds and pounds of other parcels smashing into your toy on the conveyor belt/plane. Kaji is a master painter, doubt he would knowingly send off a damaged toy like that.

I love Blobpus.... I really do, og Blobpus toy is one of my favorite sculpts. But aside from the few (poorly packed) MVH runs, I've never ordered any other toys directly from him.

Nooooooooooo!!! No Buta toys are allowed to leave the country. It's the neverending 'toy drain.' ;)

Amazing new toy David. Great detail shot too. He is going to fit right in at your house, I have to admit - if reluctantly.
