There's also a heavy reference to the Dragon Quest series, even down to using the phrase "Vinyl Quest", drawn in a very similar fashion to the official Dragon Quest logo. Cool stuff.
Reference wise someone posted this much earlier in the thread which seems spot on: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-83xW-fWoQfk/U ... figure.jpg
Now I have one in hand, I think these are better than the Deathra. I was a bit concerned about the proportions of the head & wings but they're spot on.
Learned a weird fact poking around the Gargamel archives: Bullmask and Gargamess are the same character. The blurb next to the Bullmask releases says that this (Bullmask) was Gargamess' outfit while training in Mexico.
Looking at the Garg blog and found it interesting, yet not surprising that all of the custom figures seem to have sold except for those Conifa's... If the cold reception for those things in the past haven't been enough to retire that sculpt, maybe this will be the final nail in the coffin. On another note, there was an image posted as to the Toycon UK exclusives and one is a Zag. Does anyone know if it's gonna be a pocket size or a full size (yet)?
yeah definitely looked full size to me. Cool looking colours too if I remember rightly. Koji had a sneak of it on his instagram... here it is:
I dig the Conifas, just got my first in the mail today and I'm loving it. Some of those Naoya one-off Conifas are just rad...thanks for the heads up on them. But I think you are right, the sculpt may not be around that much longer with so little interest.
The clear green standard Zagoran is the stuff of legend. The only other one I've ever seen was a one off custom sold at SDCC 2009 and caused quite a stir in line when it was snagged. It was quite the beauty and one of my favorites ever! I really hope I can score one of these from Toycon.
yeah it is really good - purple and green work so well together and of course conjures images of joker and the great devastator...and imo is even better with clear vinyl. Good luck in your hunt!
I really hope this is only the beginning and we see more standard gargamel releases of their classic toys. The customs are great and all but it's production style zags like this one that really get me excited.
Still pretty amazing to think it's taken this long too see a green base. I'm still hoping we see a red one day.
looks like a new set of resins were released at superfest: the new zag is a standout. via man-e-toys.
