I have done a fair chunk of homework and I have to admit I am stumped on the identity of these guys. Any help would be appreciated. All are small vinyls 1. Blue vinyl base approx. 2.25" tall 2. Orange vinyl base, also approx. 2.25" tall 3. I assume green vinyl, has a 'shell' on the back with swirly paint pattern, approx. 2.75" tall 4. Brick red vinyl, approx. 2" long 5. Tan vinyl, approx. 2" tall, image is NSFW? Spoiler 6. Does this Longneck go by any other name than Ikapotsu Kun?
^^ dunno, but i love the green one . . . if it has a shell its probably some form of kappa. The worm thing below it is cool too!
Kappa was first go to, perhaps some sort of Yokai, I am leaning towards that on both 3 & 5. The worm like vinyl I think is some sort of omake. 2 cannot be too hard, but with the mini style having a hard time with it. None are really old, just like searching for a needle in a haystack!
Answer key: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ilanena/2337537879/ Just have to bust out a katakana chart.
It's very slow at work today... The worm guy is ミミズン Mimizun by Siccaluna Koubo The weird light green cat guy is ネコカツパ Nekokatsupa by Billiken Shokai The orange lizard guy is ドラギラス Doragirasu by Marusan The blue guy is ガイゴン Gaigon by マウント工房 (Help? Mount something) The boob girl is ハーピー Harpy by Sunguts And of course, the best of the lot is イカポツクン Ikapotsukun (Ikapokkun) by Longneck / Cosmo Knight α
The mouseover on the Flickr page says Mount-koubou. This series is great. I picked up Chinpurar off someone from the board a few years ago. One of my favorite figures.
Mount Koubou sometimes provides paint work for other companies like Max Toy, Kaijin and TakePico. They did a really fantastic set of Max Toy minis a few years ago. Gaigon is one of the few original figures that they have produced, although that one was done through Fewture for the Sofvi Monsters set. Another is Zuigon, from the Gachamon set. They have also released about 2-3 finger puppet-style figures, most of which were sold only at Patchi-Summits.
Thanks for adding a few more cents, D! I was hoping you'd see this. I remember when those two sets came out and wishing that I could cherry pick, there's several I'd love to find (TE Zagora, the Mothman, etc., etc.). I totally forgot about those Mount Koubou pachi kaiju from years ago, great looking toys -- Wish I could track a set of those down too. Did you ever find any?
Top row: 1-Amapro / Tsutabara no Tane (tane = seed, bara = rose but unsure if that's related) 2-Marusan / Doragirasu (dracula pun?) 3-Kinosuke (kinoko = mushroom, suke = common ending for male first names) 4-Sunguts / Harpy 5-Gigabrain / Tsubasainu (tsubasa = wing, inu = dog) Middle row: 1-Tengukong (tengu = Japanese mythical creature) 2-Atelier G-1 / Gameking (kame = turtle) 3-Cosmonight (Cosmoknight?) / Ikabokkun 4-Chikyuu Boutaigun Himitsu Kichi (Earth Defenders Secret Base) / Himitsu Kichi no Buki (buki = weapon so Weapon of the Secret Base?) 5-Mount Koubou / Gaigon Bottom row: 1-Barden Seijin 2-Billiken / Nekokappa (Neko = cat, Kappa = Japanese mythical creature) 3-Soda Head 4-Shikaruna Sicaluna or however you want to spell it / Mimizun (Mimizu = earthworm) 5-3m no Uchuujin (the 3m alien) Tell me if you want translations for the other chart.
This is so great! I know it does not pertain to what I have, but would love to know the second chart as well Oli. Especially the middle row, left side. Thank you kind sir.
The translations for both sets are already on the Flickr pages. You just have to mouse over the label in the picture. Although maybe not everyone can see it? https://www.flickr.com/photos/ilanena/2 ... otostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/ilanena/2 ... otostream/
Sure thing. Caught up with work here so... Top row: 1-Dream Rocket / Wakusei Digura no Kaiseibutsu (wakusei = planet, kaiseibutsu = hmmm, monster? So Monster of Planet Digura?) 2-Kamura (Kamler?) 3-Marmit / Kanjirasu 4-Bangashiusu 5-Creative Design Hazawa-gumi / (thesecond kanji is too blurry to read) Kaiju Gaiakurou Middle row: 1-Kaiju-ken / Hakogame Kaiju Bekkame 2- 3-Gargamel / Zagoran 4-Uchuu kaijin Inbera Jr. (uchuu = space so Space Creature Inbera Jr.) 5-Dokkunroll Baby (dokuro = skull, pun with Rock'n'roll baby, "skull'n'roll baby") Bottom row: 1-Akai Kutsu Club / Moth Baby 2-Pilot Ace / Chinbura 3-Garbage 4-Wombat Toys / Daigorasu 5-Skull Head Butt / Majerisu (I've always wondered if Skull Head Butt actually meant to say Skull Head Bat. I've seen that mistake so many times...) (note: the writing is a bit blurry, so some "b"s might actually be "p"s and vice versa)
I have this set from the 2008 Fall Patchi-Summit: L to R: Buigon (Gaigon was renamed, for some reason), Zuigon and Daigon. I've seen one other set on YJA, and then on Mandarake, years later, for like 1,000 yen. Missed it both times.
