There were also 40 of the unpainted blue. This all said, do you guys really think there is a justified mark up on a smaller run? Especially unpainted? It's understandable to have a high price on a smaller painted run, if they have more work put into them than a larger release.

I'm not saying this toy has a mark up, and I don't think anyone else should be either. This could be the going price for all releases, it is a collaboration and both artists involved need to be paid.

Sorry my bad. I misunderstood about the # of releases you guys were talking about.

Also the mark up could be that it's for a gallery event. I expect or hope that direct sales from HS will cost at least $200 or much less. $250 is still a fair price for that event.

I meant, the run size was a lot, not the cost. I can see that being misread.

If I'm understanding your question correctly David, it depends on the minimum required by the manufacturer. I think most know that the higher the run, the manufacturing price usually goes down. Further, the artist may be off-setting the cost of the painted versions by keeping the cost on both editions the same. In the end, I don't take issue with the prices set forth by the company or the artist. It's their right to price their work as they see fit. It's up to the consumer to decide if it's worth their money.

    Itamu was $240.

    Flesh KGJ + poster was 25000yen plus 4000 shipping&fees.

Itamu does seem a bit more for being an unpaint, however it is a collabo so I would say warrants the price. Still Verrry reasonable, imo. Would have loved an omake of some kind..but thats nitpicking.

Sculpting is so good on this, but, no matter how many times I TRY to be ok with the fist/wires, it's just no good... I think a longer chain or just no fist at all would work best. The original Ju and King Ju are kind of perfect. You all can have this one ;)

    Agree with you!
No fist on Itamu and fist with wires as omake would be better for me~

Can't stop looking at this thread and all the pics on instagram - the new guy is incredible
    So much detail it's mind-blowing.

If anyone lucky enough to buy one thinks they 'paid too much or doesn't like the wires' (<that's mad talk!), i'd gladly take him off your hands with a nice trade!

You could remove the wires or change it or mess with it any how. You should be able to access the wires by removing the arm and what looks like two parts of the fist.

Kinda hard to say it was released, when it was really sold to the #1 list.

In any event, that's such a beautiful king, killer score.

I have to add to the clamor, Id love to have just one Itamu also. Not sure if everyone knows this but "itamu" = "pain".

Another 2 cents, if only 10 of each were made you also need to consider set up and clean up time into cost, it can take 30 minutes to an hour to clean and set up and prepare a color so 10 is a very small amount of toys for the time needed. Thats for solid colors, it gets a lot more crazy when doing marble.

    Chimply puts it more eloquently.

To feel pain, ache, hurt. It's the verb to the noun "itami". which also means pain, damage, hurt. I am sure some of you may have seen the word "itami" to describe the condition of a toy or tag/box on YJA and Mandarake. Or anyone watching Japanese movies or living in Japan might have heard the word "itai" in such a example as if I bump my leg in to something, etc.

*Of course I am no expert on the language but that's how I interpret it.

Closeup Headshot...very good to see the copper/gold glitter effects on the dark brown variant. All other colors are solid

Ive been dreaming about a white/milky gorilla release since I first started collecting them. I really hope we see an albino release of some kind in the future. The double pour is a beauty!

that's a great shot of the glitter effect, merely describing it didn't do it justice.

Such a cool release! Izumo inspired by Hirota's KGJ paid tribute with a classical styled painting which in-turn inspired Hirota to release a tribute version of the painting! Totally awesome.[IMG]
