Designer Con keeps getting better every year. Having Real Head and the rest of the Japanese vendors there this year made it very special. It's a great feeling to buy something you've been looking for online, but to buy directly from the creator is always the most satisfying. Getting to meet the Onell Design folks was a great experience too. I hope it was worthwhile for all the vendors that traveled to the con this year so that we see them and more next year! Here's my haul from the weekend: I didn't even notice the back of the Goccodo Fly Man figure until I got home, but it was a great touch:
That was my favorite hellmock, and he's a matte version of your domino jack! Great scores on all of them.
Thanks man I really wanted one of the two micro runs of the Domino Jack. I got really lucky and scored the last one.
I'm super stoked on everything I acquired Dcon this year! The only thing that would have been better is if there could have been a sunday MVH release as I can only ever make the sundays of Dcon every year. Aside from the lack of MVH, I really couldn't be happier, I was excited to get my hands on all my pieces. The brightness of the babies was a pleasant surprise, they are so much more vibrant than you could possibly tell in photos.
i wasn't able to attend dcon, and the tango came from hong kong, but: the garudan is mainly the product of my proxy not having his number called in the PK raffle. expensive lament (glow shot forthcoming)
My haul would have looked almost exactly like this. Awesome grabs! I thought the Jungle Fever with the cloak was very interesting, gave a whole different vibe to the figure.
Green/blue Pheyaos and blue mini-Pheyaos would have been my picks definitely. We've seen split colors on Pheyaos that call back to the 'original' Pheyaos Man a few times, but I still like them. Do you know if there were multiple pieces of these sold? Seems like RxH only brought 1 of each figure.
I'm pretty sure I was the first person to buy from RxH on Saturday and I know I saw another green/blue Pheyaos on the table a while after I bought mine. There were one or two other Pheyaos available as well. I think there were two of the minis and I didn't see any others after they were sold. Bottom line - I'd guess that there weren't more than 2-3 of each item and many probably only had 1 available. By midday Sunday RxH and Goccodo were getting pretty low on stock but there was still a lot of great stuff available even then.
Here is a rushed, blurry pic of our haul Mori brought what seemed like 30 different figures and 2-3 each. After I bought my Ghost Cider Mori pulled another out of his bag from under the table but when I checked his booth later in day I saw people picking up a previously released BootlegMan that wasn't out in the morning.
At the end of the day on Sunday, pretty much RxH and Co. had only a smattering of stuff on their tables. I really hope that it was profitable for them and that they come back next year. It sucks that RxH has become difficult to acquire now when at it's height it was eveywhere. I asked if Mori brought some Unagi Nekos and he did not. T____T
I hope that whole row comes back to Nate. I held back a little on Saturday, thinking that we might see some new product come out on Sunday. Was not the case for RXH, Uamao or Punk Drunkers. Punk Drunkers actually dropped their prices by $20 on Sunday and there was still stuff on the table at the end of the day.
Damn, is that Jinxman from the RxH table? Fucking beautiful. I remember seeing one custom Jinxman over at PK booth but nothing on Mori's table, which i walked by damn often : ).
Nice to see some cool pics without any grumbly comments. Dcon was super rad this year - and the Japanese visitors made it very special. Great to see them, old friends and meet some new ones. Interestingly, Dcon started life as QEEology, and was held in a small room at the Pasadena Convention Centre. Maybe 2004.... Dedicated entirely to [expletive deleted]. It's massive now, but manageable and eclectic. I'm hoping it doesn't get too much bigger and lose its charm. Maybe I'll add some pics. Very pleased with my scores!
My thanks for the creativity and generosity of the awesome artists who came out, and my amazing friends for making DCON one of the great events of the year. A few lucky lottery draws, and the truly wonderful esprit de corps made these 2 days in Pasadena a weekend to remember.
Nice haul, I especially like the dokurock fighter! Did anyone score the blue adult dokurockman? The boss looks great. looks like the classic popsoda colourway?
