Double Haunt and I have been working on a brand new series of 2 inch tall (and sometimes wide.. super chunky) micro figures which will be produced in Japanese vinyl early next year through TAG. They are currently being tooled up with vinyl hopefully being pulled after Christmas These guys are a bunch of brutes that have heard stories about the mysterious burger monster on Earth and are travelling from different corners of the galaxy to challenge the Cheestroyer! Eventually they will appear in future issues of the Cheestroyer comic book.. whenever I find time to draw them up (working 5 days a week and hour away from home doesn't leave much time for sitting down and drawing comic book pages). Here's a pic of the full range - Top Row: Cosmic Carrion, Hootasaurus, and Boulder Bash --- Bottom Row: Bubble Butt, Slashark, and Starfighter. We would love to hear any suggestions you might have for the first release of these guys.. Any vinyl colours etc. you might like to see View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set Look forward to seeing these completed. Great lil' characters. Can definitely tell that they're part of the same world.
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set Hootasaurus! I love it! Great little cast of characters with a lot of personality. Best of luck with the release!
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set Dang these are kinda cool. I also like the shark as well. Can't wait to see more of them.
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set Thanks guys! I'll get some turnaround images together over the weekend and post them here.. the back of Cosmic Carrion is full of detail. I wanted that character to be something completely alien - almost unrecognisable.
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set Gotta dig up those turnaround images - here's one that was recently posted to Instagram. I had to get a new laptop earlier this year so all of my images of these sculpts are on one of a few USBs that were used to quickly back everything up before my old computer kicked the bucket.
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set Here's the rest of the gang! All of these guys should end up being a little less than 2 inches tall. View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set - April 8th - Complete Turnaro Looks like there are delays in Japan so these guys might not be in vinyl until late this year/early 2016. Any colours/types of vinyl people want to see these guys in?
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set - April 8th - Complete Turnaro What happened to delay them an entire year?
Re: Burger Bruisers Micro Set - April 8th - Complete Turnaro I believe it's due to a large number of projects being pushed through the same factory - some may be more time sensitive than others, for special events, etc.
Four years and counting I found some more photos of the sculpts so I'll post a few here from time to time. View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram
Well the latest update on the Burger Bruisers is that the clay sculpts have broken down from sitting around for about 5 years.. from the sounds of it they are now unusable. I'm kicking myself for not getting resin copies made - however I have vague recollections that these were to be "rushed into production" back in 2014 lol These guys were to be part of a huge sofubi gacha series through TAG - a bunch of really cool artists were involved but unfortunately other more hyped/favoured artists jumped the queue back around 2015/2016 (Groman, Ron English, etc). Sure I understand who they went and produced other things but let me tell ya - some of the artists that had sculpts lined up and ready to go were pretty amazing. It's a shame the gacha brand never took off.. they would have been a few years ahead of Medicom with VAG and Unbox with their little blindbox projects.
Sucks Glen, what kind of clay? A non-bake non polymer? I would think anything you sent if you didn’t do resin would be polymer and I’d be surprised to hear of deterioration. I have polymer pieces that have been sitting in storage for 10 years and are ok. Anyway, maybe just revisit the gacha idea. With the learnings you’ve had in 4 years. I pretty much look at everything I’ve ever done and wish I could redo it now as a better artist.
Not exactly sure but I'm 85% sure my sculptor used Sculpey Firm and cured/baked whatever you have to do with it. I doubt he sent just the clay raw (even thought it's super firm) - he was super careful and particular about that kind of stuff. The more I think about it, the more I think we sculpted and sent them off quickly because production was happening "within weeks". It's always disappointing when you come across people who make empty promises and try and tell you their ideas in a "best case scenario" style of trying to please the client. Apparently there are 3 of the six that are still workable, but I was warned that even if I took them on myself there is a fair chance there would be issues with using the sculpts to make the wax versions. Yeah I guess that's the deal for any artist - but I can tell you from an outsider pov that your sculpts are timeless!
