First of all, I want to say THANK YOU to USPS for not scanning my package en route even once, somehow managing to put a gouge into the bottom of the box, and squishing it. Bruiser is curious as to why a box is getting more attention than him. Carrot-orange bag this year. I could smell the fresh aroma of airbrush paint while opening, mmmm. BINGO!!! Lucky Bag indeed! (Bruiser is unsure.) A gorgeous bag. I was aiming for either the Garudan or Mecha Zag, so this was a thrill to open! Not sure how I feel about the unpainted Deathra. The color is amazing, but am I ready to start collecting unpainteds? Will this lead to a slippery slope of collecting TWICE the toys?
Very nice! Other than the Cyborg Miborah, that Cyborg Zag is the highlight for me this year. I hope I get one in my bag.
That little monkey is also unpainted...you really shouldn't start collecting unpainted toys Great bag, congrats.
...looking back at my photos, I realize how gross and flaky my hand is. The hands of an art student are always dry or dirty. Dry because we wash our hands too much, or dirty because we don't wash them enough! These bags are spectacular this year. Many thanks to everyone. Keep the photos coming and joy coming! EDIT: Here's some more IG eyecandy! @sooolazy (LB from '13, '15, '16, as said in caption) @mildthree @averagetorsotoys @bananapoons (Bwana Spoons) Filled with DICE! @kenyotw @benjamin_wan_ @gorman6868 @00simons00
Its a Deathra. If you like the design who really gives a fuck if its painted or unpainted? Iv got painted and unpainted runs of figures i like. Do I wish i had more painted runs of figures? Sure, who wouldn't? Do i want to stick with just painted figures? No, because allot of these figures are hard enough to get as is.
Again i got nothing against painted figures but the blanks have a lovely quality on there own thats to be had as well.
Got my bag from Bwana... Garudan, Coke bottle zag, clear pink crouching hedo, brown Doranekon, clear red globby, micro killer/hujili, and zodiac monkey! The monkey made my day, quite a few are popping up which makes me happy.
Really? That's some goofy logic. I would wager that a vast majority of collectors actually do give a hearty fuck about what they have on their shelves, even with the whole 'painted vs. unpainted' thing being a moot point. I've wanted a standard sized Deathra since they first came out but I'm certainly not going to just settle for any version I can get my hands on. Personally speaking, I have never once purchased a lucky bag from any company because a) I like to know what I am spending my hard-earned money on, and b) I do not like, and by extension, do not collect, unpainted toys -- It would just be filler that I would have to get rid of. I prefer to try to cherrypick the contents that I actually want. Although I will admit, I'd purchase a bag from certain producers who have never done a lucky bag if the opportunity ever arose. Out of the hundreds of toys in my collection, I have less than ten unpainted. Of those less than ten, more than half were gifts from buddies, or an omake that I had no idea I would be getting. After a long time collecting both sofubi and other random crap, I know what I like and I know what I'll keep and what I won't.
Same Garudan and Zag for me. Clear Randall, clear Diranekon with paper guts, clear pink hedo, marbled mibora and micro killer & doku rounded out the bag. Clear red globby, David? Is that new? Or did I just miss that in other photos of the sitting guy?
I think it really depends on the release, Maddie. I personally love unpainted pieces, for the most part. I feel like the pulling of the vinyl is an art of its own or something cheesy like that. With exceptions though haha I can't stand red or black unpainted vinyl. Too hard to see the details. But it is up to you haha if you love it, keep it! If you aren't sure, there are plenty of folks on the boards that will trade for it
Not really and it wasn't directed at you but if i hit a nerve than *Shrugs*. I dont let paint rule my collection choices. I was like you. All for the painted and against anything unpainted. But once i got a few of these unpainted pieces in my hands my mind changed drastically on collecting only certain pieces. If you enjoy specific pieces thats fine.
There's also a second crouching hedo version (painted green) floating in the wild. It's not numbered (count your blessings in my case!). But ifyouhaveoneforsaleyouknowwhotocontact...
Thanks everyone. I was hoping for a cyborg zag, but the monkey easily made up for it. The Coke bottle zag is such a great color too. It will go perfect with a 1 off zag I have by Naoya.
I think you missed his point. I agree it's poor logic to settle for something you don't like in a hobby like considering the costs. I don't think I speak for myself when I say I buy toys based on a combination of things, including but not limited to character design (or culture reference), sculpt, paint application (or lack thereof), and price/availability. Even if you like unpainted toys, are you going to settle for a blank poured in a color you find to be revolting just because "Its a Deathra?"
How about shipping them off to a painter? I just spent $135 getting a few blanks painted up. Pick a reputable airbrush artist, contact him, give some mock ups of colors you want and get on that shit! Unpainted doesn't mean it's destined to be naked forever.
Sure because i don't have colors that i hate. I don't think iv ever ran into a problem with color in general. But lets try to keep this on track with just lucky bags talk in general. This conversation is probably best suited for its own thread lol.
