    No, no, no. No. Uncool.

Plus, why would a 'Crocs creature' also be wearing Crocs? Or are those just his legs and feet? Why would a creature have the same shape as his appendages? That is probably even more disturbing. And then why aren't his arms and hands Crocs? So many questions!! But in all cases it is still wrong. And I stand by that.

    Vintage coin-banks.

The dog is called 'Little Bobdog' and i have no idea about the other one.
    Anyone recognise him?

    I'm guessing these are 60's or 70's.

£1 for the pair at a flea market

    I'm guessing 1960's / 70's

These are rare old Jif 'dessert syrup' bottles from the late 70's. I remember them from my early childhood.
They were designed to fit-in with the 'classic' Jif Lemon squeezy bottle and are still full after all those years.
£2 each at the same flea market.

I've tasted the raspberry one - not an experience i will repeat again, thats for sure

^ Absolutely no surprise that they are out there, but I've never seen an Astérix toy before. Never really caught on over here, in spite of a couple of publishers earnest attempts.

^^ Nice, never seen that before. Love it.

We really got Asterix in the UK, in my formative years i found them in my local library,
so all the books were available when i was a kid. They have always been sold next
to Tintin for as long as i can remember . . . .

The toys however, pretty much non-existant. I dont see a lot of Asterix toys here in the UK
but when i do, a lot of them are from 'Parc Astérix'. I've picked up some nice plushies etc . . .

^^ Thats a cutie for sure, the base of the toy is interesting.

Here's one i picked up recently at a vintage flea market. Whilst most of the actual toy stalls
were quite over-priced i found this at a general junk stall for £3. I had the feeling the guy
didn't even know what it was when i inquired about it . . . .

'Billie and his Seven Barrels' from 1950 by Kiddicraft in England.
    http://www.hilarypagetoys.com/Home/Prod ... rettyphoto

There is an American equivalent, also from the 50's, called 'Kittie in the Kegs'.
I'm not sure which came first . . . . the English one has fully painted details like
Billie's hat and school back-pack. It reminds me of a Subbuteo figure.

Kittie is unpainted and seems to have come in various bright colours. Both
sets were released in random colorways, so there was a lot of variation on
    each sets appearance.

^^ Yeah, the Wombles were a little bit before my time, so i never read the books but i certainly watched the TV show. That bag is rare.
I remember their TV performances on Top of the Pops, which was a bunch of people in Womble suits dancing around on stage.

They had some recording success. I just checked Wiki and was surprised how much:
'They amassed eight Top 40 singles in the UK and reached No. 55 in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
They were awarded the Music Week Award for Top Singles Band of 1974. Reissues of the Wombles'
music in the late 1990s and early 2000s also charted, extending their number of UK chart hits to thirteen.'

On a similar note (pardon the pun),
Small Clanger. No idea of origin, no makers marks. He's cool though. Another UK children's TV classic . . . .

If it isn't Pogo the possum and pals :D

Pogo the comic strip was one of Walt Kelly's creations (Walt Kelly of Disney fame). It was centered around Pogo and other animal characters of the Okefenokee Swamp, which is not too far from here (I once saw a dog eaten by an alligator there on a schooltrip as a youngin).

Churchy LaFemme, the turtle, you could say was one of my first vinyl toys. Also one of the only toys I still have from my childhood; a gift from my late Grandfather. He held my cigarettes in college (for shame).

With only a couple to go, Rei, you should finish the set. They're fairly easy to find and fairly cheap as well.

    Not my image.

I recommend these to anyone who likes perfectly crude little sculpts that look like they were thrown together out of clay in just an afternoon's time. Interestingly, they weren't drawn this way, and I think it's probably due to how distorted the toys are, with a lot of awkward imperfections, that keeps the usual "clean-lined" vintage cartoon/comic collectors away from them.

They're certainly an acquired taste, but if you like them, then you'll like them a lot. To me, they sorta represent that folk spirit of where they're from, but you'd never see Hanna-Barbera let anything like this slide.

Thanks for posting yours, Rei! I'd forgotten all about these fellas :)

Great group, Rei, and excellent post, JP. I spied the scores in the food thread first, and all I had to say was, "It's the Pogo gang!"

Indeed, thanks for the awesome post JP! I hate to say that I didn't grow up with this delightful gang, but I've always seen the beauty in these toys. Definitely want to get the rest!

Yeah, these little critters have a special place in a few memories of growing up for me. I had to say something :)

So much time has passed, it was a treat to see them on here first thing in the morning. Thanks again, Rei raccoon.

And you gave me an idea for one of the toys in this year's Sb Christmas raffle. Now who to pick... I suppose it'll have to be Albert or Beauregard since their favorite holidays are Christmas.
