^^ I've been a long time fan of 'Buke' as in 'Puke' I'm re-reading 'Women' at the moment. Its a great book. Here's a few Monster in my Pocket i picked up recently. All around 20p each. I see so many of these guys i just pick up the ones that really grab me . . . . I always find way more monster in my pocket out in the wild compared to m.u.s.c.l.e.
Nice finds as always man. I think that is probably more of an age thing, and these later MIMP guys coming out in the 'boom' collect-em-all craze that hit in the 90s. Still, I don't see many around at all, so that is cool you found these. Soooo.... if I send you 7£ you can build me up an entire army then?
^^^ O-M-G!!!! I remember Monsters In My Pocket! That shit takes me back!! O3O NOSTALGIAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
You know nostalgia aside i remember some of those Monsters In My Pockets pieces were a real pain to find. Your best bet was getting those huge packs of like 20 or so.
Dude, I get that your enthusiastic - and I am saying this here for the benefit of everyone, because no one apparently reads the FAQ section anymore - but you can edit your own post after you make it, if something pops in your mind and you feel like adding something. No problem at all, especially if no one has posted yet after you, you can even delete it entirely (for whatever reason).
A nice bootleg Incredible Hulk. Almost certainly by the same factory that does lots of bootleg Gundam. 50p at a boot sale. Inexplicably this Hulk has a red light in the middle of his chest that lights up when you push a button on his back. Its almost certainly there because the factory is set up for putting lights in Gundam and various robots, so why not the Hulk? More pics: Spoiler
Haha, that boot is hilarious Moog, but the light has to be the best/worst part of him. Cool find. PS - where are all these Gundom bootlegs you keep talking about? Sign me up man!
So here's something a little different~ I found this gem back in '93 or '94 at a field sale, where the lady selling gave it to me for $3 wanting to get rid of it asap. Told me she'd taken it from her son's room and didn't want to return home with it. I felt bad for the guy, but not for too long. It's always been at the center of my toy displays since then, but had been in storage these past 3 years. Need to clean that old kitty hair off...
^ Spied that bit of brilliance on your Flickr the other day. I knew there had to be a good story behind it! Joe - your new bootleg should be named Sweet-Hulk.
Haha, that is a real winner man, what a great find - or should I say 'rescue' - Rei. I love the frame you have on it too. Talk about a 'smooth' bargain at 3$. (poor guy!)
^^ Funny painting. Love it. Its been a long time since i've seen a roach-clip. Vintage E.T. with googly eyes. 20p at a boot-sale.
Very cool one Joe! I can practically just feel his soft squidgy body just from that photo alone. Weird how when you think of the crazy abundance of character merchandise in the 80s for thinks like ET, Alf, Garfield, etc., you don't actually come across that much of it anymore. Guess most of it has worked its way into the landfills and collections by now.
^^ Oh certainly, many a great toy has ended up in the trash. I dont normally buy wooden Tiki figures (i try to restrict myself to plastic) but these two were irresistible. 50p for the pair. [expletive deleted] 2011 50p in a charity shop.
Its a kind of semi transparent soft vinyl, fairly firm but pliable. He was a keyring, but I sliced off the nub on his head, so now he's a figure. If you look closely at the photo you can see nubs on his eye sockets that are keeping the googly-eyes in place . . .
I almost asked if he used to be on a keychain! I've seen a newer 1 of these before and regretted not getting him. I really like the look of yours tho. I'd say that you need to host some garage sale toy tours, but then you'd have to share the fun finds
Roman soldier from Asterix the Gaul by Bullyland 1990 20p 3 metal figures by 'Westair'. Small and heavy, pretty cool. 10p each.
Nice man. When I was a kid, I always wanted/tried to collect those metal figures like that of historical depictions, e.g. Roman soldiers, vikings, Native Americans, etc. These are very similar looking, though maybe not quite the same series. (these look more profession/higher quality, whereas I think the ones I picked up were from Kinder eggs and such). They didn't exactly have playability value, but they were cool looking nonetheless.
I found this small sized type drawer yesterday. Just needs a good cleaning and some hardware to hang it up! I might paint the inside of the cubbies white. Would that ruin the charm? View this post on Instagram
Very well-suited for that scale of toy; it must have been meant to be! Now you just have to find a few more, at the rate you filled up this one. I second the motion for non-painting. I like to see exposed wood.
