    Jim has 3 of the 4 shown in his post almost at the bottom of this page. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=13537&hilit=dinos&start=25
    The fourth one, I believe, is blue also and does not really look much like a dinosaur.
    CKA had all 4 when I was there in February, but I could only come away with the green one.

    That is an excellent one, Jim. Congratulations on completing the set! They really are a series of wonderful dinos. I see now what Mark meant, this particular blue fella is indeed much more 'kaiju' styled than dinosaur. What a funky and great character.

    Thank you for the link and explanation Mark! Thank you Jim for the photo :shock: . I still love that "sail fin" blue dino the best, and I would be very happy to have just that one Takatoku. You are both very lucky to have these dinos!

    Not very strange or rare, but you don't see it too often.
    In the product description, the seller says it was made for the Hawaiian market. :?:

    Is this really Takatoku? I always thought it was by a company called Daimyo or something like that (I forget the exact name).

    Yes, Takatoku Toys, better known for their robot toys. The other company is Daikyo.

    I didn't realize that purple one was part of the same series as the other 3. Interesting.

    That is a crazy high price indeed, but those are also some very in-demand figures. Still you have to wonder how many bidders there are out there who have those kinds of funds to bid against each other for these toys. I mean, I know they exist it just is impressive.

    I caught it early and watched the progress. It was kind of thrilling to see so many bids creep on up to that pretty astounding number. Somebody was jonesing pretty hard...

    Indeed, and I would hope there is some true excitement and emotion for the winning bidder. I would like to think that it is still a hard-won prize and not just, "oh, cool, put those to the toy investment vault". :|

    Yeah, that is a really nice one. I know it does seem a lot for a mini, but as Scott pointed out, the rarer ones of the set can get up there pretty quick. And I haven't seen one with that insert before I don't think, even in the packaged versions I have seen for sale, so that is pretty cool.

    Scott, which is the other one you are still hunting after, so we can keep an eye out for you just in cases? Made a note now for this guy.

    Thanks Steve - very generous! I need this guy; Cockroach Man and Ambassador Hell who shows up from time to time but always ends closer to 40k, which is a bit rich for me

    I am surprised that one ended so high. The Bandai figure is not really all that rare, while finding it in varying degrees of completeness might be more of a challenge. But still, he has a fair bit of paint wear, and I find it odd that they actually removed the boots during the photos (these things are notoriously fragile and hard to get around the heel). Seems like a lot for this particular toy, given comparable ones in that price range, but I guess it was a case of circumstances coming together in strong competition.

    I think it all comes down to frequency it pops up on YJA, combined with how flush with cash and eager the buyer is. That usually translates to these high end prices on more common vintage toys. I haven't been looking much in the past two and a half years- so I'd have no idea on scarcity these days, but I assume pretty much the same?

    Still Thundermask has the best fucking mask doesn't he?:D I like this version of the mask the best on the Bandai Standard.
