vintage corningware, these could still probably be thrown across the kitchen floor without breaking.

Over the past 12 months, my coffee habit has given way to an espresso habit. For years now, I'd been content with coffee, and never had a thing for espresso. Now that my drinks are smaller than a 8 / 10 / 12 oz cup, so my mugs are left as front-facing decor for the kitchen shelves. I'm a bit geeky for beverage vessels, and function > form matters, here's what I'm rocking now.

    Bodum dual walled glasses; 12oz & 2oz
    KeepCup; 8oz & 12oz
Zojirushi 16oz "stainless steel vacuum bottle"

While none of these are exactly the type of thing I'd post pics of to showcase, they're all real performers. The Bodum glasses are perfect for when I'm drinking something hot at home (pretty rare, usually on the go). Really fragile and the deeper/taller ones are harder to clean without breaking, so they're definitely not for everyone. They'll hold a hot beverage without transferring heat to your hand; or if your contents are cold the outer glass won't sweat - it's great! Just avoid ice cubes, as they are fragile. I found KeepCups attractive and addicting. There's so many charming color combos that I found myself having a few, and I still swap pieces out from time to time. The interior of the cups are marked at 2oz increments and are perfect if you frequent a coffee shop. These are my main daily cup for taking my morning drink from home to work. Not insulated, so not for long trips, but a great reusable cup that can't break and can even be kept in your car regardless of Summer heat. The Zojirushi is a real treat, as it's so well insulated that left open, without lid, you can keep ice inside without melting for many many hours. I use the Zojirushi for all iced beverages (the ice keeps your drink cold, but doesn't melt and water your beverage down!), and it's especially useful to close up and shake to mix your drink. Lately I'm dropping 6-8 ice cubes in and adding one or two doubleshots, capping it and shaking it to a nice foamy frosty treat. The crema from the espresso goes wild when shaken and mixed with ice cubes, so you end up with a good 2-3" thick foam on top, no dairy involved. That's enough ranting about workhorse, plain-jane cups though.

I wanted to shoutout long-time SBer hank's Home Brew Coffee Blog, which chronicles his coffee experience and his friend's mugs (first "Mug Mug Mug" entry by SBer Scott!). Check it out.

Me too! That one is a delight David. I would definitely have to open up the change purse if I spied him at my local thrift shop. Is that your regular joe holder?

He's been host to just about every beverage that I've ingested for the past couple of weeks!

I wish that I could remember just exactly how he came into my life, though I'm guessing he was living at the St, Vincent's on Fort street when I first met him. He's been hiding in a box for that past several years, I'm sad to report - a most happy rediscovery!

Well he certainly is a people lover. I am happy that you were able to give him his second (and now third) life, David.

My morning coffee mug, King Kong made by McCoy in 1978. His grumpy face makes mornings a little easier

Kong mug rules! Spectacular Kerk, I could definitely see myself drinking out of that face every morning (though, it almost seems like a reflection of yours truly, might be a bit too uncanny valley). So nice to see a King Kong item with a real genuine menacing look.
