Ah, so that's where that fella ended up. I was wondering. Man, that was a good time for Skullbrain.

This figure is pretty great, the combination of some-how adorable and creepy really works. It's also pretty cool to see the original sculpt idea! I really like being able to see where a character started to where the character finally ended up. It adds that extra touch of personality to things, really draws me in.

Wow that resin is so cute! It should make a comeback as a set with the vinyl version.

I'm also going to guess that Brent's love for S-taiin had influence on this guy...especially that mouth!

You nailed it, David. Otus' asteroidal adventurer is definitely a grown-up S-tain that has ended in a wayward encounter of the strigiformes kind.

I enjoy the history behind it, but I feel like they are very different figures, telling two different stories (perhaps about the same alien ghost). They kind of contradict each other a little bit.

Also can't imagine the kind of headache it would be to paint a full run of vinyl and then make and paint a full run of resin figures to go with it.

All good points, @bbb. Lovely as that little guy is, I'd rather see Brent's efforts directed at new and exciting projects, rather than him being tied to old sculpts and media. I do hope that he's appreciating all of the praise that his wee mist ghost has been getting these past few days, though - sometimes it can be mortifying when people start parading around pics from when you were growing up!

I just post it here to show the evolution of a toy and sculptor. I love seeing it, almost like seeing the thought process, and skill, change and grow. A similar process would be PK mockbat(or other earlier resin).

Man, nice to see some love for my old work. Thanks guys.
But no i wont be doing more resin. I consider the resin to be like a sketch of the vinyl, even if it didnt start out that way. The story also evolved over time to what it is now.
But, as Ben said, they could be considered two different scenarios. I prefer to leave it up for interpretation, but the spaceman in the Otus sculpt is definitely thinking "is this real?"

Very nice Brent. Keeping my eyes peeled 8).
This is one of the very few in a small handful of new toys coming out I am excited about, for whatever that's worth. Probably not much. ;)

I wish a lot of the new folks coming out with toys would take the time and care that you did to bring their vinyl to market, it would benefit everyone.

I have to ask, what kind of clay did you use for that mini? I couldn't find an answer in the OG thread but maybe my brain isn't caffeinated enough. The amount of detail is fantastic and the transition into a larger vinyl format is truly exquisite! Great stuff, just liked a bunch of your photos on IG as we speak. :B

Lookin' good on the setup, Brent. Though I don't know how that chair is going to fare you for all those long hours of airbrushing!

^^heh! I love that chair, but it's pretty bad if youre trying to use the back rest.
I'm gonna get a nice rolling chair soon.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love it, and it is totally my style, which is why it immediately jumped out at me. Just, as someone who recently started a position where I have to sit all day long, I can only hope you will go easy on those long painting sessions. I can only imagine what it will be like already, having to lean into/towards that box while you work. You already suffer creatively for this project - don't torture your body too, man!

Evom, that's a great looking spray booth! What is it made of, and what kind of fan is that? Also, I'm excited to hear about a second run for this little guy!

@ultrakaiju I think the booth shouldn't be uncomfortable to use. I should be able to sit pretty normal with my hands in it. I hope it'll work well for standing and painting too which I like. Don't worry, Ill just stick to my usual mental torture ;)

@KingDoom thanks man! its made of 3/8" Polypropylene.
Cool thing is that the plastic is not affected by vinyl thinner so it wont get all weird.
The fan is a CanFan Pro 8" with a paint pocket filter infront of it and vents outside.
I still need to install a light in it this weekend.
