    Hey... mmmmmmmmmmmmmaybe. Ewwps, sorry Chris!

Okay, so now that we have your attention - care to tell us the true life behind the scenes exciting story of how the fabled GT Dino sets of 2007 came to be? Sideline curiosity --- did the blanks used by yourself, Paul and Bwana come from the same batch? How many, yo?

    etc etc etc

You mean the fabled July 1st 2008 (Canada Day) GT Dino set? ;) 20 painted sets and 10 unpainted sets. I can't speak for Chris but I know he had a working relationship (much like Bwana and Super7) with Butanohana as it was one of the few North American online stores importing Butanohana at the time. My Kong was a unpainted blank but it is now painted so tops 9 unpainted Kongs out there.

Probably more than 9, at least that started blank, as I've seen several out there (done before yours) with paints by the 3 famed dudes I mentioned. Maybe it was originally 20 blank sets, with the additional 10 being split between those guys? One of the reason I was asking Canadian Chris.

I did have the year wrong on the GT release, thanks for setting the record straight, but the painted GID dinos originally came out the year before in Japan. No clue on the numbers, but you used to be able to buy them and the 2nd edition of the painted cave folk through KT.

Oh yeah definitely before 2008 on the painted GID Dinos but I thought you were just asking specifically about that GT set. I for one did score my cave people set on KT. Miss those days :(

Chris of GT is and shall remain @3x3is9

    a. GT Dinos were released July 1st, 2008.
    b. There were 20 painted GT Dino sets (all GID)
    c. There were 10 blank GT Sets (all GID)
    d. The painted dinos from the GT sets were not exclusive to GT. They were originally released (in Japan, and not as sets) in 2007.
    e. There may have been more than 10 of each blank imported, as many were customized by N.A.S.*

Here is our old blog-o post about 'em: http://grumbletoy.blogspot.ca/2008/06/buta-no-hana-grumble-toy-exclusive.html
The vinyl was exclusively pulled for us, but they did sell some in Japan unpainted at an event before our release came out. (if memory serves) Not a problem on our end as it was exciting to see them in the wild. If I remember correctly Datadub snapped some pics at the event and was the first to post about them.
As for any back story... really it was all about timing. One thing, originally they were going to be clear with glitter vinyl, but the factory didn't want to do glitter. Butanohana suggested the GID colours.

AAAARGH! I kick myself every time I think of how I passed up two chances at the complete GT dino set. It hurts! I've been getting bits and pieces of it here and there, but oh to have a glorious full set.

Thanks for the history on these releases everyone.

Thank you for posting the GT dino link, Chris! I wish you'd repost all of those great Buta toys that GT sold, with original prices. i.e. a "museum" section of sorts? I miss seeing your "sold toys" section, and I'll ALWAYS be thankful that you made them available for us!

P.S. Michael, good luck with the hunt, the GT Dino sets are heavenly! :)

Hey @Mr. Humphreys , I just noticed one of the paper toys on the shelf under Gomora's armpit in this pic posted by OMB on his blog on 5/14/16.

Looks like at least one of the paper toys is alive and kicking!

Also, those shelves. sigh. How I would love to go see this wonderful museum of all things Butanohana.

@paulk ! Thanks for posting the 5/14/16 link! Hopefully the rest of the paper toys are stored somewhere safe. It's nice that the collection is kept intact. You're right though, I would really love to see his toy STUDIO!

I would love to see the wax prototype impressions! Buta Heaven!

"Today, I went to the workshop's ButanoHana.
A 20-minute walk from Kashiwa Station. There was the location of the 5-minute bus ride.
※ For detailed location, please contact us by e-mail to ButanoHana's.
    (Link: ButanoHana net shop http://www.butanohana.jp/)

Late last month, in the blog's ButanoHana, look at the pictures of the workshop, but had wanted to go all the way,
Today I was able to finally go. By the way, Hana's workshop of the pig was named "Hanabo". (Located on the door)
While falling of light rain, a 20-minute walk, walk almost straight from the train station, without difficulty arrival.
Upon arrival, was welcomed with a smile to the flower represented by in the Soft modeling nurse Shigenobu Ohashi illustrator wife of Mazubuta. Although I was a little nervous, it was loose considerable tension Thanks. A little break, while looking like licking the soft vinyl, I was allowed a lot of talk.
I thought that I wish something amazing have heard the story, but apparently like because I first met more women to the monster. ^^
The beginning, I did not notice in the shadow of in the same room, it was Welcome also with Shigenobu Ohashi in the back of the stand. (Surprised)
Work desk in the same room is there where he was in the midst of production of soft vinyl prototype.
Because what kind of person, such of whether prior knowledge did not, simply but was pretty nervous in the Do not selfish image (duck specific to be angry to say strange things) illustrator = artist, I was talking to very, very friendly .
Soft wax impression (wax?) Ask them how even a glimpse of the production of the prototype. Moreover, pig of Hana's prototype!
When running, to be let also show soft vinyl sample of the new work of the following will be released.
Goody! Of going to this will be released now ... (I do not know whether or not buy)

Then, we will be a lot of fun talking with Mr. Ohashi married couple and three.
About 10 years ago, when I began to sell the soft vinyl is, (it is surprising but) Maybe you a hard time not selling quite, why was the size such as the Soft Vinyl now? The one and monster are choosing how do you make, such as the choice of color, I had lot of talk. It became very study. I tried to do very chest are made in what I thought to what kind of wind.
Properly when you buy, it is not to buy directly from the ButanoHana san! Really exhausted to this.
Because I never would have thought that you can to talk with so friendly feeling, but came out full of things you want to hear from the next to the next with the feeling to say I should hear also there later and this also I should hear.
Anyway, it is possible to spend a very fun and valuable time, I thought that it was good really come. ^^
During very busy, it was Mai Thank you for taking the time. m (uu) m

(↓ permission of the photography, but I had also permission of the blog posted, was worried whether actually posted on the blog.
Or still to the absolute better to see live, which may be to openly the soft vinyl complete works of Hana's very valuable pig in a bad photo? More shooting well report is better to me to do a professional person ....
Since the conversation with Mr. Ohashi married couple than Admit Soft felt they were very fun and very valuable experience, there is also I think to say that a waste if anyone not go to see only this image. Although I think'll keep those personal enjoyment, this only works great, it is still useless If you do not share? (That it would be bad photo example), to will Some people I do not go in the distance .... So, very regret in shame naïve blog, but I was allowed to be published. )
Hard to see locations, please forgive me. "

Ah yes, I remember David showing that blog post of a tour of the studio. Thanks for the reminder.

And thanks, David, for the pic links of the rest of the paper vehicles. That rocket is pretty amazing.
