Why fedex? There's tons of surface shipping companies that do it for dirt cheap if it's not urgent.

Sorry they got you. FedEx sucks.

I had great luck with them a few months back when I had to ship my 3D printer. Brought it in on short notice, they boxed it up and shipped it for a ludicrously low price.....so with a small box of silicone molds, how expensive could that be just going to Mexico? Boy was I stupid. Coulda saved so much money just going to the post office.... >_< It'll just make me appreciate my prototypes and finished toys that much more.

Hah the one time I shipped a dress through FedEx, it was, and this is probably a bit alien in concept here so I apologize, a made to order dress from a popular Japanese brand, one of the first custom dresses they ever made. I actually ordered two from that series. I put both of them up for auction when we were about to buy our house last year to help with the down payment. I knew they'd sell ok (this is a pretty niche fashion with a constant resale market/turnover, since it's clothing). I was expecting $1,000 max, which is around what I paid for it, as this fashion dictates on the secondhand market, rarity/elaborate getups, it's a big thing. What I did not expect was for them to go as high as they did. The market for it has always existed internationally, but the Chinese consumers for it are a recent development, in the last two years. And they seem to have quite a bit of money to spend on it. An absolutely insane and totally unexpected bidding war occurred, with people trying to do massive BIN offers via pm (we have our own auction site for this kind of thing). The first dress sold for $8,000.00. My mind was totally blown. To ship it to China via FedEx, insured, and the look on the lady's face when I paid nearly $700 in postage was something I'll never forget (but it was at request of the buyer). Later on, I shipped one via USPS insured EMS and I think it cost me like $175, which is an insane difference (second dress sold for more too). I don't know why Fedex charges what they do for shipping, it gets crazy.

I could've probably bought myself 7 nice dresses for what you paid to send one. Provided I was secure enough in my masculinity to wear dresses, that is. Which I'm not. I'm working on it, though!

But congrats on that kind of a sale. Must've helped quite a bit with the house-buying.

So, ummmm, how can I get me some of that custom dress money?

    That is some crazy postage, but whatever, if that is what the buyer wants and you get your money for it. But man, does FedEx really deserve that kind of cash for a service (specifically, this service, shipping a dress)? Makes you think. Nice that you could support the house payments though, that is pretty nutso. {glad we are not the only ones going bonkers over our niche hobbies :dam: }

Fuck you, garlic. You are so incredibly tasty, but then there is no escape from the taste of garlic. Brushing teeth? Nope. Tongue scraper? Nope. Mouthwash? Nope. Chewing gum? Nope.
Goddamn it, it's been almost 12 hours. Get out of my mouth, garlic flavor.

Haha! Science proved that the easiest ways to remove garlic flavor are either by eating a spoonful of mustard(kind of defeats the purpose though)or slowly eating an apple which has enzymes that neutralize the lingering properties of garlic.

Fuck this election cycle for exposing the absolute worst parts of humanity and reminding everyone what people are really like. The News Week footage recorded at various Trump rallies could have just as easily been filmed at Klan rallies a hundred years ago.

^^^Try drinking 1 or 2 shot glasses of Cointreau or Strega, straight at room temperature (the real stuff!). The alcohol and fruit/herb oils, and the thick syrupy liqueur consistency (sticks to your throat going down) help to neutralize the garlic oils (at least it's more fun than eating an apple slowly ;))--do this immediately after eating heavy doses of garlic. You can also hold the stuff in your mouth to see if it'll "burn off" the garlic, but it's best to tackle garlic from the get go...

Note: The compound allyl methyl sulfide, from garlic, is a gas that is absorbed by the blood and transferred into the lung tissue--that causes the lingering effect (as you exhale, that garlicky sulfury yuckiness hangs about, so it's not just a mouth thingy...

I love garlic and lingeringness never bothered me too much. I'm usually taking it in powder form, though. I imagine using cloves in cooking would have different symptoms.

Yeah, well I never thought much of the "other side" to begin with (although this is a low, even by their standards), but this is the first time I've completely lost faith in and become disillusioned with the party I usually don't scrutinize too closely because they're a much better alternative, And that happened before the DNS leaks. Now I could care fuck all about all of these assholes, to put it mildly.

    Cannot..... ...stop...... ...watching....

Giant FU to myself for absolutely stupendous idiotic timing the last two days. I missed two fantastic toys (related) that I would have so loved to be abe to pick up and help out a friend on. Alas, stupid real life got in the way and the connection was just not there in time. 'Twas not meant to be, but that doesn't mean the toy pain or shitty feeling about not being able to make it happen is any less. Sorry. :(

And, while I'm at it, I'll throw a FY to the blind box craze. BAH, BAH and indeed thrice times BAH!!!!!

Fuck you migraines. I can live with the occasional migraine, but 23 hours out of the past 72 hours? Really? Add that to the time I've just been asleep, and basically my entire weekend was eaten away.
Not to mention that my new meds did absolutely nothing to prevent them.

Andy, you seem to have missed the part where I wanted to pick these for someone else. I have been on an incredible toy lull for some time as a matter of fact*, so I think the lack of buying is taking care of that itself, but I am glad - and appreciative - that you are here to advise me on my toy collecting. All this time I have been doing nowt but chasing the latest hyped toys from Skullbrain and socialdrain media (I really have no idea what to do unless people tell me so), so I will be sure to pass by any future purchases by your ever knowledgeable and discerning eyes first.

    * - Have I been spamming all your favourite threads with all of my toy non-arrivals, unawares? Many sincere apologies, Andy.

Fuck having to keep certain parts of your life secret because of what other people will think of you.

I've finally broken down and began the process to apply for disability. It's taken a lot of hurt to get to this point where I'm finally admitting that I need help. My insurance refused to pay for my latest migraine prescription, my other prescription isn't doing its job of preventing menstrual-cycle-related migraines and I'm pretty sure is giving me side-effects... My insomnia is terrible, my anxiety is terrible, I still fight off the little voice in the back of my head wanting to just give up on everything... (Hell, just the other day I considered selling my entire toy collection because I feel like such a burden on everyone.) I can't work because on any given day I could be a bedridden migrainey mess, or a panicky anxious disaster. Who the hell wants a worker like that when you can have a perfect worker who makes it to their job every day? Going on disability is the only choice I have right now until I get shit sorted out.

But of course, I can post about this HERE but not tell anyone I know. Everyone sees me at my best, on days I can get out of the house and actually function. Nobody besides my nuclear family and my boyfriend sees me on my bad days. The rest of the people I know, my friends and extended family, only hear about me not feeling well occasionally. Either that or they see my Facebook life and think that things are all wonderful and normal.
If I told anyone I was filing for disability, they would think I'm a freeloader, or lazy... Or that people like me are the reason they're voting for Trump.

It fucking sucks all around, but it's all I can do for the time being. Maybe Medicaid or whatever will cover the testing I couldn't get done... I need a sleep study and another blood test on my thyroid levels.

@hellointerloper applying for dysability is not freeloading. Do not think that, ever. Whoever believes otherwise can go fuck themselves. It is in place to help people and you having taken the step after trying on our own is commendable enough. Best of luck with your process and I hope you can find a solution soon.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. Everyone seems so judgmental these days though... I hate the looks I get when someone asks me what I do for a living, and I say I don't have a job. They see a perfectly healthy person because I'm completely mobile, alert, etc. If I'm out of the house, it's a really good day. On a good day I'm at least out of bed. They don't see the bad side, so they automatically assume I'm a leech. That's what hurts the most, knowing that things are beyond my control and being blamed for it.

    FUCK ASIAN TIGER MOSQUITOES.
They have completely taken over CT.

    Fun facts!!!
    • These assholes enjoy biting through clothing, because fuck you
    • They can bite through denim, because also fuck you
    • Their bite actually hurts like a tiny intense pinch, because fuck subtlety
    • They don't hesitate at all, they just land on you and bite you
    • Face is easiest area to bite? NO PROBLEM!
    • Oh yeah, vectors of disease and so on
I actually miss native mosquitoes. At least those suckers would hover around for a while before deciding where to land.

A big fuck you to the medical insurance system and the fact that it makes zero sense. Maybe it's just me, but for something to be 'past due' I surely have to have been made aware of the fact that I owed something in the first place, yes? Apparently not. Received a bill yesterday for treatment received a little while ago, the first bill I ever received from this company, and in big BOLD letters across the bottom of the form: THIS BILL IS NOW PAST DUE. FAILURE TO PAY WILL RESULT IN THIS BEING HANDED OVER TO A COLLECTION AGENCY. Seriously, GFY!

It goes hand in hand with the endless stream of bills that come from every man and his f*cking dog from the recent birth of my second child. Would it be so hard to have all related post-health insurance out of pocket costs consolidated onto one itemized bill so I can see just WTF I owe? I pay stuff off, then think I'm done with it, only to have something else drop through the mail box. Confusing and annoying ain't even the start of it. While the NHS back home wasn't the best, I didn't have to deal with this load of bollocks!
