I just want to point out the absurdity of #8. "I am not your worker". Coming from the guy that purposefully avoids giving credit to the guy who made pigpigman.

Is there not a word for "cognitive dissonance" in Chinese?

When I saw the Izu Monster ones I thought "cool, I'll try for that"! Saw the price tag and laughed my ass off.

Can any other makers chime in on this? If the Mimi was truly made in Japan, there should be a lot of progress pics, right?

At this point I'm assuming the Mimi was made in China unless there is photographic evidence proving otherwise.

If a toy exists but is not posted on Instaspam, does that toy really exist?

It's on now! You mean to say that there is a Chinese-led Japanese laboratory that has perfected physical bilocation technology?! Someone alert President Trump!

(Hi Rusty_Lappy, nice to meet you. I wanted to note that I'm not mocking you, I am just making fun of the Tan/Unoblab situation.)

By my calculations, once a toy has lost factor "H" (hype) it ceases to exist to all but us "uncool" folk. ;)

Anyway, I see some people on IG reaffirming their support for Tan.
I absolutely won't be supporting Tan at all because:
    • Withholding toys from buyers for any reason is messed up, apology or not
    • He still isn't addressing the fact that he didn't even sculpt PigPigMan, and hasn't explained why he refused to even allow others to say that Chen/co-oc sculpted it for him. In fact, in his apology he goes on about how making monsters is his hobby. I guess "making" means taking credit for other people's work.
    • This whole "Made in Japan/Made in China" bullshit gives me the willies. If I wanted something like that, I'd buy some Funko Hikari crap and call it a day. And hell, at least you can find out that Funkos are actually made in China by reading the small print on the box... Tan just straight up lies.
As far as I'm concerned, this maker is dead to me. Frankly, with his ridiculous prices, he never was much alive to begin with.

So if I take a shit loaded with corn lamé and sell it for $500, is it sopoopi?

No response yet from Tan to my direct questions about where the Mimi is made.

Every vinyl toy I've gotten that was made in china felt like crappy plastic in hand. I've even had some with thinner areas of vinyl in parts to where it was transparent. I don't really care where a toy is made as long as it feel like quality, and in my experience, vinyl out of china is garbage. And we are seeing toys that are supposedly made in China using Japanese vinyl? - I'm thinking unbox does this and their vinyl is crappy too :(

Out of this whole petty charade, I'm mostly concerned about the issues of misrepresenting these toys, and with the sudden influx of random "secret" artists churning out shit, I am sticking with those who have been around and proven their trustworthiness by producing top notch toys.

Did one last thing before running off to dinner... sent both this Unoblab investor guy and co.oc29 messages on IG asking about PigPigMan. I think having an answer in writing should clear up any remaining doubts.

Also, Unoblab guy says on his IG posts that Tan can't sculpt at all. Not sure if he's exaggerating like "he's unskilled" or he literally means "he sculpted nothing."

I talked with co.oc today and he says he just sculpted pigpigman and that was all. He was offered to sculpt Telebobo but then the offer was retracted.

You also forgot the fact that they dont charge fucking 500 dollars per sculpt ether and to be fair some of the Hikari stuff is pretty fucking cool.

Just have to say, reguarless of this mess, no artist needs to sculpt in order to have a toy of their own. So can we please let that silly argument go. As long as it's their design and a project they oversee its their toy. And like mentioned some of the best Japanese toys have not been sculpted by the artist, and most don't reviel the sculptor. They should however be able to paint their toys somehow. And even that is something that can be argued.

As for made in Japan. I think it's best and something we all go for because of quality, history and craft. But in the end if it's being made elsewhere as long as the factory is doing the same it doesn't matter which country. It shouldn't matter. What if Luke moved back to the US, nothing would change because of his dedication to the craft. So we should stop focusing on that. I have pigman, telebobo and Mimi monster toys all are great quality. If they lied that's silly on their part because it dosnst matter.

Of course no artist needs to sculpt their own toy, but they shouldn't say they sculpted it when they didn't... and not to mention asking people to delete comments that state otherwise!

I just received my refund via Paypal of $300 for the September release Telebobo from unoblab with no argument. I sent Tan an email containing the winning email and PayPal refund as he stated to do in his IG post. So we will see what happens, hopefully i still get the telebobo. I love the sculpts (ppman, mimi, telebobo) regardless of where they are from or who made them. I just want to know when I send my money to anyone for a product that I will receive my item in a timely manner. And if I don't like the price I simply don't buy them. Or only buy one of that sculpt.

You should feel lucky to have only lost 7 minutes. I've spent at least half an hour now trying to figure out that the fuck is in that picture Bert posted. Not to mention at least an hour trying to figure out what Rich was trying to say in all that broken and misspelled English :?
