So that's what those toys are!!! Thanks for sharing that toy Roger, and thank you Scobot for explaining what that toy is! I've seen a few other toys with small holes on their knuckles, and it was a stumper!

p.s. can someone say how these watering toys are filled? Do you pop off the head and add water? :)

It is indeed a swapped out head from the Bandai Devilman figure. Not that I mind, I do so love those sideburns (and have been called Wolverine walking down the street, for what reference that is worth). Hmm, maybe I am sharing too much detail here....

The watering can toys are indeed great, if almost completely impractical (from my child-mind perspective). I have to agree that while I have seen a lot of them, I can't remember seeing one packaged before, so that is cool to see pop up.

FWIW, my Barom-1 vinyl has this exact same Devilman head. . . I remember getting him cheaply (~2000?) and thinking that was the reason why. I felt the Devilman head was a bigger score, but never imagined I would see another with this exact swap-out. I assumed the seller had combined some incomplete toys or a previous owner did this to make a "complete" figure . . . I feel we may be seeing something the factory did, which is interesting. The Devilman vinyl was always much rarer than the Barom-1.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Thank you @scobot , your toy is a doozy! I tried for a Takatoku Tiger watering toy last year, but missed by a hair. Can you please tell me how tall these guys are? Thank you

Wow Michael, that is absolutely incredible! Did he have his mask and accessories? When was this, care to share the story behind it? That is an unbelievable price even for a junked figure in my opinion, and consider me very envious you came across that gem. Thanks for sharing the story, it is really great to know, as I also assumed this was a mashup from toy parts, but if indeed others exist, it might be a sign of something done at the factory with matching leftover numbers, I dunno. Very good to note that for future reference in any case.

Beautiful! So pristine. Standard size Bullmark Kamerking. Blue version, I think. Ended at 81100...

That is really a phenomenal beast, Grace. It is crazy to see such wonderful, lustrous colours on a vintage figure. Chameleking is already fantastic, but seeing the vintage pop up for sale, and in this gorgeous condition, is a real treat. The other versions are great as well, and there was a later one that was a real royal blue, but this one is my favourite. A lot to spend, but a lovely toy.

Oh, I know! It really stings that the lovely dragon will not be alighting onto my shelf :x Last year's focus was Buta, perhaps this year it will be vintage. I would really love to nab a Kamerking and a standard size blue Earthtron, to pose next to Martin's Kaiju Zoo painting.

A noble ambition indeed, Gracie. It was really nice to see a Hawaiian Goji out in the wild:

A decent amount of paint wear on this fella, but that just lets you see the gorgeous flesh vinyl underneath. A treasure of a toy, hopefully going to a good home.

More pics available after the link.

As for the Barom-1/Devilman Bandai vinyl - I wasn't clear in my first post. I believe I obtained him around the year 2000, maybe a year or two later. My recollections are that I spent around $120 for him. He came unbagged, but with the boots and belt, with a mint Devilman head. I always felt it was a score because it is in good shape and Devilman's head sculpt is quite unique with the sweet burns and combover, while the standard head had much less style. Plus, I display them with their masks on, anyway. I sense the randomness of this mashup is possibly not so haphazard after seeing another example. Sitting here inspecting him, while there are a couple paint rubs on the black hair spray, there is no evidence that this was swapped out by some child, as the neck joint is tight and has no gouges or rubs on the vinyl. This is an interesting find, glad this was posted. I have always been a huge fan of the Bandai removable mask hero vinyls, or anything with a removable mask, for that matter. Always thought there should be a thread here for these, but I've been too busy to start one.

    Cheers,
    Michael

I don't know if this is king of the robot bootlegs, but I'd say it comes pretty damn close. A truly, truly, excellent little robot. The crazy manta ray head, the exposed circuitry, the excellent sledgehammer hand, wonderfully applied paint, heck, even his little quirky lean; I really love this fella. Also, all you fancy 'new' monsters with ball and chains trying to chase the train - eat your heart out. This is how you make a toy right and fun. Wow, it was some doozy to watch this auction take place, but clearly, at that price, I was not the only one struck by his beauty. Would love to know more about this guy(s) somehow, but as with any bootlegs, probably the lost history is buried in time, but doesn't take away any from his charm.

@ultrakaiju - Excellent eye for the Bullmark Hawaiian goji. I agree with your assessment, as I felt the paint rubs add a special charm, especially on the chest area. I also felt this was the "entry-level" (hah!) flesh vinyl goji I had been waiting for. It is indeed going to a good home, and I will post some more photos of it in the near future.

Yep, everything old is new again (especially these days). Not that I am complaining, I love to see new makers paying respect to vintage toys, and we have really seen some interesting takes on them. And would love an affordable crack at one of these fellas too, so that is also good to have. I am more surprised to see what seems to be a direct re-issue though. I didn't know much about the Zollmen figure, presumably they referenced the source/'inspiration' as such (I hope). Now you're gonna have me do some digging! Thanks Anthony!

Congrats @deafmetal! An excellent adoption if I may say so. A wonderful figure at any time, but a hefty and lovable example of vintage gold. He is going to be a wonderful adoption in your vinyl family. Definitely looking forward to some pics of him.

Thank you, everybody. It was a huge one at the top of my dream list, and I am satisfied to pick it up at half the price (or more) of a figure in better condition. I have chased quite a few different leads on this rare Bullmark, but have come up empty-handed each time. @ultrakaiju - I am definitely feeling the "heft" of that vintage gold. Oof. ;)

Here is another great vintage piece that showed up recently. Marusan Mothra still sealed, and went for ¥110,000:

Check out that red text on the bag, awesome! I was wondering where M1GO came up with that idea, and now I know...

Not sure where to post these. They're probably not rare or unusual, but they are tigers, and I do love tigers :). Any info would be appreciated!

Described as a Tiger Popy alloy toy. I bet those jointed arms must be fun to pose. Does anyone have any info on this guy? He ended up at 8250, nothing to loose your shirt over, but I do love tigers! :)

Described as a Tiger Mask Racer. Love that cape, and the litho printing is really nice, especially those tiger faces. Ended at 18000. Vrrrrrrooom!

Whoa! Thank you @scobot ! :D He does look a little more dignified with a cape, even though he still has no shirt! ;)
Any thoughts on the tin Tiger Racer? I just added him in.

Although I disagree with the exorbitant prices that are lately taking the vintage figures, I think this is a real gem that deserves every coin.

Hahahaa, Roger, you posted that just as I was typing up this one.

OG packaged Goji. Very nice dark blue colour, and wonderful coverage of that silver paint. Heck, even with the excellent Bullmark poster inside to ogle all the lineup of vintage toys. A lovely toy certainly, but damn would it be hard to invest that money and then resist have my prying hands all over him.
