Hey Bryce - Glad you like the poster/art thus far, thnx! Oh yeah - for sure, our main intention was to create a sculpt to parallel the poster art. However, we also kept pushing to keep within the realm of what we hope makes a good toy. I would never make the macfarlane connection myself & I listened to absolutely no Korn music during the process, haha...

Here's the final remarque for Sirene:

Definitely loving the artwork on all of the remarques. I really love that you can just see the connections to the animated versions if you know what to look for. You did a really wonderful job 'transforming' them. The posters are going to be a hot ticket item I have no doubt. I am excited to see the toy reveal when it is all finalised, even it it might not be along my own personal collection tastes. I can certainly appreciate some very well done work. Like Bryce, I guess it is just a personal preference to see more 'toned' back designs, particularly because I find there are so many options for hyper-realistic and 'horrorified'/grosteque Devilman toys out there. I'd love to see a return to the classic toy appearances (generally, I mean).

Thnx for the feedback!! I definitely understand your apprehension concerning the sculpt, considering the fact that the poster & remarque artwork is completed with a forward level of detail. I love the vintage toys I believe you are referencing (Bandai, Takatoku) but obviously I'm trying to bring a personal outlook to the already expansive realm of DM figures. My intention was to make more of a traditional toy than a big gnarly sculpture to place on each side of your flatscreen (haha). I definitely wouldn't call the Unbox sculpt, horrific or grotesque - it looks a lot like the print I'd say. Hope to have more soon...

Nothing wrong with hyper realism. I honestly cant understand ppl that get upset over this. Considering the opposite approach to making toys with the less is more attitude can be rather lazy in general. The new toy is indeed hyper realistic to a degree but honestly i see nothing wrong with that.

It's a matter of taste; both sides are legit. Both aesthetics are valuable to the toy world.

I can appreciate both simple and intricate toys, I'm usually not black or white with my taste. The first toy I worked on was the Rumble Monsters Bop Dragon, which was a somewhat simplistic design. Thnx for taking a look at the new Devilman sculpt either way!

I love that the screen print has this back view line drawing on the back side of the paper. Such a great surprise!

This is a gross over-simplification and just flat out wrong. It's completely fine if you don't appreciate that look, we've all got our own thing, but it doesn't at all mean it takes less effort. Anyone in art or design will tell you making something clean and simple is a lot harder that just a hot mess. (just look at some of the 'new' toys on the market)
    ^^ This.

But I don't want to clog up this thread with the same old discussion. Devilman looks really nice, a wonderful transition of the original sketchwork and execution in vinyl. The details on the wings are a nice touch.
