Thanks! It's a great series. Probably my favorite Gatchaman toys.

Awesome toy and condition. I would be so afraid I'd tear all the accessories to shit just by touching it.

Thanks it took a few years to complete. Yeah the biggest problem with displaying these is the capes. There's a similar issue with a bunch of stuff from the 70s. If you just leave the cape like that, each individual edge will curl up, which to me isn't a good look. So I store the cape separately, flattened between two pieces of cardboard.

For my Arashi wind up horse (which also has a plastic fringe), I was able to nip this in the bud before the problem began by rigging up a very simple flattening system. Basically I surround the front of the fringe with a small piece of paper, which prevents curling. Because of the horse's design, it's easy to set the paper so it stays in place.

The problem with the Gatchaman is the cape is out there on its own, and there's no simple or non-ugly way of rigging something up. So it's easier just to keep the cape stored separately.

Lol, only a collector. It's fun though, that every time you wanna take a photo or check him out complete you have to get out his specially stored cape and put it on him, like you're really playing with him.

Haha, yep, that is what struck me too! I am suprised his cape actually comes off that easily, but at least it works to make things easier for you Andy.

I guess people can do whatever they want, but the thing looks super ugly when the cape is left on and it curls up like the Wicked Witch's dead feet. Anyway, to each one's own.

Exactly. That is just what this hobby is all about at the end of the day. Part of what makes it so great is the variety out there, and everyone has their own thing. I am glad you found a way to preserve his cape to maintain that nice shape Andy. Out of curiosity, did you ever try anything for straightening out other thin vinyl. I have had some success with pieces that were just curled, but stuff that has become really creased or folded is difficult to bring back; you always end up with the crinkle/line which you can't really remove.

You can flatten curls with enough time and pressure, but removing crease lines may not be possible. Some other materials can be ironed, but doing so may well melt thin plastic.

Nice Rattanicus! Yeah vintage minis are really addicting. For the most part affordable unless it's super rare. So many different monsters and heroes from so many shows. And of course they look great in large groups!

What a great day for vintage pictures. Here's my contribution.
I've been conversing with a boardie about finger dolls recently and that gave me the idea to rearrange my collection. These are mostly by Osato Toy with the Masudaya Batman set, some Marusan originals and a few pachi thrown in.

I got the counter display box with the six bagged toys years ago. For the record, the bagged toys are: Baltan, Antler, Redking, Mefilas, Gomora and Bemler. As far as the various Ultra series go, I think I am only missing Garamon (not counting color variations.)

Really nice collection Mark, the only thing that erks me about finger puppets ( having a few myself ) is when you get one with a lean!

WoooooooooooW!:shock::shock: What a stunning collection Mark! I'm now convinced that you have in your possession, a way-back machine  The original box and MIB's are quite breath taking, in addition to the whole collection! They are all so shiny and "new". They are all wonderful, and I have to go reach for my albuterol now!

Beautiful collection Mark. The box and unopen packaging are seriously something I would love to have myself.

Haha, yep! A few of my Osato finger puppets love to lean and eventually fall over.

Thanks everybody! I started picking these up a while ago when I was looking for something cheap to satisfy my collecting desire. Have had several chances at a Garamon but don't know if I will ever be willing to pony up for it.
It took a while to set this up because of the "lean" issue. I noticed that the worst offenders did not have the flash cut properly away leaving a raised rim around the opening. Did not want to deal with trimming them so let 'em lean.

@Mark K - Incredible collection. I really like the look of so many of those finger puppets. One thing I love about photos of large collections of vintage heroes and kaiju is that it's usually a unique rainbow of colors.

@michael I have a few. I have never been able to complete that set. Missing the Rider.
Also love the small V3 set by Masudaya (I think). The early Ultraman and Ultra Q finger dolls are so strange and appealing but sadly very hard to find.

Would it be cool or creepy to display those finger puppets on a wooden model hand? I'm leaning toward cool...

    I think cool too 8)
Just noticed what finger those dolls are on in the box art.
Flipping someone off with an Ultraman kaiju would take that act to a new level.
